That's great that your waiting for a Nokia, I'm waiting to try out the 7210 too just for fun, but Nokia has it's own problems of it's own (Many of there phones do).

Although, I have to criticize and agree with you on many of these statements:

-The damn blinking led
I quite enjoy this feature, as it’s a trademark of Ericsson. Although, I do have to agree with you, that there should be an option to turn off the LED light.

- The clock screensaver
The clock screensaver is not that bright to waste much power, it’s actually barely visible. To get out of this mode, just touch your joystick and there you have it.

- The display, the colors on the display are very...low quality
On my display, it’s very nice compared to other T68’s. However, I have also heard that a lot LCD’s are different, and having it darker will save more battery. Although, I wish there was an option to set the brightness level yourself. As for the backlight, all you have to do is press any key and it’s back to the background showing you if you missed any calls or SMS messages. Also, don’t you think it’s pretty obvious when the backlight goes out, you’re not going to see much? You can leave the backlight on if you want too (Easy to turn on in the options). However, two-tone displays will always have advantage with the backlight off, simply because it’s two-tone.

- The screensaver
I don’t find it useless, it’s actually quite enjoyable, especially with animated screensavers and people take notice of it quickly

- Messy software
I would blame outlook for those problems. I have no problems transferring images, ringtones, or themes via bluetooth or IR (Not one crash). However, I did have a few crashes with crappy outlook express, and I wish they made this software completely separate from Microsoft.

- I dont have a "real button" to show the profile
What exactly are you trying to do here? Speed dial? The option is there, it works fine. I don’t think it’s in the manual, but it’s on the forum.

- options
So why did you buy a $500 USD phone in the first place if you don’t consider using these options? There are plenty of Nokia's out there for you to use and for far cheaper price.

These phones are getting more advanced, and everyone here assumes the 7210 is going to be BUG free? Hah! You can expect the battery to not last long on the 7210 though, especially with the current state of Nokia batteries, they are really crappy. Nokia is having problems, and I don't expect much out of the 7210 at the moment.

The T68 pretty much sets a standard on how these color phones should be built since it's the first on the market. Battery lasts for incredibly long periods of times, small, easy to use, nice look and stylish, blue tooth, triband, IR port, and a cool joystick. So it’s to be expected that companies are going to try to dish out better phones than the T68i.

Also,
Take a look at the Samsung V100,

http://www.gsmarena.com/index.php3?sRedir=http://www.gsmarena.com/phone.php3?idPhone=314

Also looks quite nice, and an MPEG4, MP3 decoder 65k colors + tri-band
But don’t expect the battery to last long on this one too, lol.

well, that is the problem ! I dont want to push the joystick every hour to see any misted calls/smses ... I could learn to live with the fact that it doenst show the desktop but only the clock (ok, its for saving battery, so why not..afterall) but since I noticed that it also shows the screensaver (after 20 mins orso) when you have misted calls/ sms'es , well that just did it. I dont want to be slave of my phone and touch it ever hour if you see what I mean, I just want to quick look at it so I can see any misted calls /smses (like you do with every other phone) btw; you can compae it with a watch where you have to push a button every time you want to see the hour ...

And your asking for the reason why I bougth this phone if I dont use it features ;

well, as you read, my previous was a 8850 , so I was looking for a phone wit atleast the same functions, so also the possibility for hooking up a datacable and changing everything (ringtones,backgrounds, logos...) I also wanted a phone that would look as stylish as the 8850 and also as small as the 8850. The only phone I could find that matched these parameters was the T68i and it was better on every aspect...also the price wasnt that expensive (compared with the feature it has). There was also the 8210 but is has a very crappy display and is crappier then the 8850. The 8310 doesnt look stylisch to me (much worse then the 8210) and I couldnt wait for the 7210...

to conclude; I know that the 7210 wil very likely be worser then the T68i, but I just want to know it for sure, and if it is, I'll probably buy the 8910 or maybe another phone with a ordinary screen. Until ericsson fixes this display shit I'm no longer interested in it.

I'd rather see the batary status and the receptionlevel and other status icons floating around in my screen instead of the clock. It would comsume the same amount of batary power, but you can see a lot more information about the phone then the time.

About the led, it is very handy, because you can see if you're still in range of your GSM provider, while it's blinking.

The phone beeps and flashes whenever you get an SMS or Call (You can even make it vibrate). Although, I would like the ability to change the SMS tone, but unfortunately that’s not possible. If the screensaver is on, it goes back to main screen and asks you if you want to read the SMS or view the Call list. If you don’t give the phone an answer within a certain time, it will go back to the clock screensaver.

If you can't handle pressing the joystick to switch back when the screensaver turns on again, then please, just get off this forum and go play with your cheap little Nokia vibrating feature in the bathroom.

======

@ Z___Z I totally agree with you, it would be better to have a battery power display rather than the clock screensaver. Actually, I have a better idea, the screen should flip to a monochromatic mode with the background off showing reception, power, and the clock.

This missed calls and SMS thing is rather annoying I agree. Ability to switch the clock off would be nice and/or perhaps the clock screen could be adjust to display also missed calls and SMS status.

Screensaver feature is nice, but useless because it shows up only a few secs.

You have made quite a point, I agree with you that some of the functions of T68i you do not use therefore you might think it is not value for money.

Therefore I urge you do NOT buy T68i and buy some other phone which is for suit to your needs for it is a waste of money and time.

Seem like Nokia is the best choice for you. Should go check it out at www.nokia.com for your handphone

Well you probably dont understand the issue here, let me try again.

The week I had the damn phone I misted like 4 smses and 2 important calls, just because I didnt push the damn joystick.

I felt like a slave of my phone, every 30mins I was away from the phone (yes, it happens. Maybe you take your phone in the bathroom, but I dont) I need to grab it, push te joystick, wait 2 seconds, and see. I dont know how you guys do it, but I just cant live with the fact I need to push it every 30 mins I get away from it. Especially when you expect an important call. And the major problem is, you cant always guess how long you left the phone alone, 30mins do pass quickly. So basicly I found myself ending up as a slave of my phone...

Maybe you actualy enjoy touching the phone ? well,I dont, I prefer to take a quick look at it so I can see any misted calls/smses . Thats only normal no ? You can compare it with your watch, how would you feel if every time you need to see the hour, you would need to press a button ? Would get really annoying if you ask me. Maybe not the first 3 days but afterwards...So I think SE screwed BIG TIME on this one ... the phone was perfect in every way...a great shame to screw such a phone like that.

I can understand people not bothering this problem, but thats most likely because they acctually NEED the features of this phone. If I needed like wap,gprs,bluetooth I would not have sold it probably...but I only use the phone to call/sms (wap is like stupid, and gprs is not available here) so I just could live with this issue...

And I also noticed many said; "wtf did you buy it if you dont need it features ?" well to all those people; please..PLEASE...mail me the brand/model of a phone that comes as close to the T68i on these aspects;

- style
- weigth
- lcd (the size I mean, at least as big as the T68i, dualtone is fine too)
- storage capacity (I do use it for ringtones/bg)
- voice dial / voice recorder
- size (not larger as the t68i)
- standby time
- price not > 600€

I'm pretty convinced there are currently NO models matching these parameters as good as the T68i , so THIS are the reasons I bougth it, not because of the features. There was no "less-featured-t68i" otherwise I took that one

to conclude;

I see the T68i as the best phone I have ever seen (for its price/options) but the display issue is just its major problem if you ask me. It shows that they're just not ready to use color displays (and also guaranty a up-time from lets say 7 days when you use it average) maybe they would made a hell of a deal by

a) creating 2 types, one with a color lcd and the other with a dual tone
b) think of another 'human' solution for the 'powerdrain' problem of the lcd, beside that all-messing-up-damn-clock-screensaver

but unfortunately none of these options where implemented.

My phone is sold, and I have no regret !

So to anyone reading this, be carefull before you buy it !!!
make sure the negative points I told here dont annoy you...

Well, I have to agree on some of the display issues. The only thing I do not like about the phone is the short screensaver and the clock screensaver, as I said before, it would be better if it went to a monochromatic view of the main screen with the clock/reception/battery life/etc, with the background off, would have been much better. However, that doesn’t really bother me much, nor does anything on the phone, and I have been a Nokia user before, and I really disliked many models because of structural problems on many Nokia’s (You should see my GF’s phone, lol), and by the way, Nokia isn’t all that great either

As for my display, it is very bright, and I have checked it out with other T68’s being sold around in California, and it seems mine is a hell of a lot brighter for some reason (Luck I guess).

Also, I personally do not mind checking SMS messages by just touching the button, as I’m going to play with my phone anyways and send messages back.

I'm sure SE will address these issues in the future, but if you feel like going for a Nokia, by all means go ahead, no ones forcing you to do anything We just want to tell you've made a mistake!
