They still can't beat T-Mobile's customer service.

When I bought my new T616 about a month ago (and ditched Verizon) ALL the majour carriers were bragging about "no roaming charges" nation-wide and "add a second line for $9.99". We went with Cingular. Only prob we have is occasional dropped calls-- especially when my husband is at his office in the outskirts of east Houston. We are hoping that AT&T or Cingular add some more towers in that area...... Unless anyone else knows of some tricks.

Yeah, good trick is to switch to T-Mobile. For real. AT&T/Cingular's coverage is crap in houston. HWY 59 has horrible service. T-Mobile i can actually pick up reception and make calls even in kingwood. East/Southeast houston has great service with T-Mobile.

@ t68iNWO:
Teen-Mobile (aka T-mobile) unfortunaely doesn't have the coverage nation-wide that I need for the travel I do with my job. Other than the Baytown area of Houston, coverage seems great on Cingular. Anyhoo, I'm stuck with Cingular for the next 2 years.

News update.. Cingular and T-mo's deal has broken off.. In order for Cingular to be able to complete the purchase of AT&T, they have to sell their 1900 mhz network to T-mobile. The deal is just about done ($2.5 billion). Customers will not be affected at all as Cingular will still be using the 1900 mhz network for the next 4 years while they use most of this money to improve on AT&T's 850mhz network in the west... not bad... not bad at all...

@RichLoc: TNX for the info-- wish I were as up on the deals going down. Hopefully us poor Cingular/ATT folks won't get stuffed by Teen-Mobile and the 1900Mhz deal.

@t68iNWO: Didn't Cingular also buy Houston Cellular many years ago? HC had awesome coverage from Sugarland to Baytown. I wonder what happened??
