I work in a computer recovery company and I've seen loads of circuit boards that the chips just fried by themselves. It's usualy caused by a spike or the chip just fails. This can cause them to burn out and even catch on fire.

Now that I think about it, I remember a former colleague of mine's 3330 also started fuming once...If it's only the battery, I'm sure we would hear about other brands blowin up! Maybe some phones are just safer than others

Well it's more likely to happen to Nokias, because (at least near me) there are many more places to buy cheap Nokia batteries than batteries.

I had a nokia 3310 as spare mob when my dear ericsson a3618 had gone for repair, lucky that it didnt explode . I think US army will be soon equiped with nokias :-D

do you guys have any links for those news? i think these news are hoax. the only place i heard celfones exploding are at gas stations both nokia and sony ericsson that is why there are signs at the gas pumps to please shut your celfones when in a gas station. could anyone of you post a link here that proves the celfone explosion incidents are true?

modern terroists might wanna take the more subtle approach and use the se exploding charger burns the house down while you sleep lot less in the face than the nokia gernade less chance of been caught
