I didn't think the option was there.

my thoughts...
Since I was made a mod in November I have been very active in that capacity, removing virtually every warez thread, removing duplicate threads, moving threads to their correct forums, in some cases removing garbage, flaming and off topic posts to threads (including quite a few from a certain poster in this thread), etc etc etc and all the other duties expected of a mod. I am sure part of why I was made mod is because I am able to be online most of the day. It takes quite a bit of time but still people want more, it seems
The nature of Esato is that it is growing.
This is largely due to the fact that whenever anyone searches for relevant things in Google, Esato inevitably appears and with the increased access of the internet many of those people are non technical or not familiar with how forums work, what etiquettes and rules exist etc or that a forum like Esato is really a community and not just a help desk.
These people just see an opportunity to get their question answered and so jump right in with that question and that is the nature of people and I don't think we can ever stop that.
With the increasing visibility of Esato on the web there are bound to be all sorts coming to Esato and the more that visit the dynamics of Esato are bound to change as it will no longer be the cosy comfortable place it was with fewer members.
In regards to the search, people complained that it was useless, and I was one of them although generally I could find most things I was looking for. Now laffen has introduced a much improved search and I rarely have trouble finding anything I am looking for so there really is no reason to complain about that. If you get too many results then do as you would on google, improve the criteria.
I have to admit there are certain posters who annoy me too but a certain level of tolerance is required and people do not need to feel they have to express their anger about a topic that they feel is uneccessary with a negative reply on that topic. Just move on to the next.
Obviously people on WAP will be more annoyed due to the limited view of Esato they have and they don't want that cluttered up with junk. That is already taken care of to some extent as some forums are not available on wap such as garbage etc.
As tranquil has repeated many times, if there is something that any member thinks breaks any rules or is not suitable for Esato or has any other issue then just PM one of us and we will take action, as appropriate or neccessary, right away. So far there are only a couple of people who PM me in this regards on a regular basis.
We are also open to suggestions on improving Esato.
In summary, and in response to the original post to "elders and moderators; get to work", the moderators do do their jobs but unless we tighten the rules dramatically, or delete threads from people who ask questions that are asked often etc etc there is not too much more we can do...
...and if we did that what sort of place would Esato be then?

From a certain poster in this thread? Everyone stop staring at me your making of nervous. The mod's do the best job they can. No arguments there.

@masseur: You say that we're supposed to PM you moderators when we find something's wrong or someone behaves badly but except the tiny tiny text "this forum is moderated by..." in the top of every forum I can't see who's the moderator and who's doing what in the forum.
Plus, your description of what a mod does reminds me of other things where I am connected, where you do things in "the background" and no one sees. Like on a big website or similar.
__
Some users don't know how much work it is to keep the place updated and fresh and keep on whining "this and that doesn't work!"
To make us normal users know who are doing what and how much work it takes to keep esato as one of the best mobile forums on the web, I suggest a page or special sticked thread that introduces every moderator to the users and what duties they have, for example who's punishing ppl who doesn't behave, who's keeping the threads in the right topic etc...

I'm not moaning about things not working. All i'm doing is making a few idea's that might see the site a bit more popular than it already is.

@seiunUsagi, all the moderators do all the jobs, its just a matter of who is online at the time something happens that requires action and which of us sees it first. The only list of moderators I know of is the one you mention at the top and that list is pretty much the same for each individual forum
I should also make it clear that moderators only moderator the forums, i.e. the jobs I mentioned and a few others. The behind the scenes stuff you mention regarding the new facilities provided recently such as WAP search, keeping the servers running, the design and layout etc etc are all the hard work of laffen only.

I think the ppl with T610 and such do not realize that xhtml wap able phones such as T300 and T310 cannot access html lite. xhtml is just another wap script. PM's are not possible.

Hey managed to get back on! Not saying that the mod's don't do a good job cause they do. As for the new facilities, it's a shame that only 1 person works in that department.

Basically the only way to get the regular people to come back would be to wait till they get bored. From the sounds of it everyone behind the site are working non stop. Thats how to make a popular site. Those who disappear are just missing out.

Good thoughts, Good thoughts members !
As for me, I guess as the day progresses, the problems of controlling the threads will increase as well. It's like looking at a scene in a small classroom, one very timid teacher trying to control a 100 pupils, very impossible indeed, considering that there are certain character a student possess: shy, arrogant, playful, talkative and the bully ones. Now try to look at the whole picture here at esato's, with only 6 or 7 mod's with the army/batallion of 29,000 +++ members. How can you see the traffic on the discussion forum being controlled on a daily basis ? Considering that only a "NUMBER" of the mod's being visible at a certain time, honestly speaking, @masseur and @tranquil are the ones only frequently seen here lately - my apologies to the rest, but I made my basis on the number of replies/posts they've made (might not be thoroughly educated with your rulings here moderators) . . . Now, I guess the control of the threads solely rely/depend on the majority of it's members - by helping one another instead of flaming the threads, as @masseur would have correctly said it : "if not satisfied with the thread, move to another one", and not flame it. The job of a moderator is a very hard one, considering that they are only stealing time from work, by being online (most of the time) just to make this site look good, they have also (some) families to look after as well and duties/chores in their houses to attend to. That's why I was also shocked to see that some accepted the job as - moderator. Now what I see here is that if we do not help each other try to make this site a worhwhile place to visit as early as now, then just don't be surprised to see threads like this one 'mushroomed' in the very near future. I remain . . .
