T610 battery life and effects of continuous charging. |

you get far better talktime out of li-poly than standard lithium.
It also charges faster (I think)
And your right, manufacturers specs are never accurate, they are factory tested under extremely perfect conditions.
Ive a t610 an get about 2-3 hrs talktime and on average nearly 2-3 days standby. An i use the phone quite alot. (Texting, GPRS, Bluetooth & Camera) Id also average 45mins talktime a day.

The battery performance specified by the mobile phone manufacturers are probably laboratory figures. In reality it's unlikely that one can get these specified standby- and talktimes.
My experience is that it's very rare indeed.
In practical everyday use, don't expect very much more than half of the specified standby- and talktimes.

you *might* get factory figures if you stood right next to a GSM tower and didn't use the phone.

The only diff'rence between Li-Ion and Li-polymer is that the polymer is used to thin the battery, thus making it lighter but that's all.The performance is just the same, as well as the behaviour.

You'd need make sure it was room temperature in addition to leaving the phone under the gsm tower to get the quoted battery life. To be fair a number of years ago, two motorola's exceeded their stated usage and standby times in a magazine test

Also to remember your battery life can be affected by your network.

I guess that I should not worry so much about it my self then. I guess I do use my phone a lot, specially the GPrs. After all my use after a day or so, I only have about 25% of charge left. If it's true that this batteries can handle about 1000 charges, then I figure that gives of just under 3 years of charges, by that time there'll be other super nice SE phones with batteries that'll last much longer than those that are on the market at the moment. Besides, these batteries are getting rather inexpensive. |

Your distance from a cell site greatly affects battery life. If you're near a cell site having full bar signal strength (rssi), you'll have longer battery life as compared you being at a location far from a site and having only 1 or 2 bars. Cell phones and cell sites communicate with each other with it comes to range from each other. If your fone senses that its far from a cell site (through its signal meter), it will make its transmit power pump out more tx rf (in terms of watts). Normally GSM portable fones have variable tx power levels ranging from .3 watts to 6 watts. If you're closeby a cellsite, your fone could transmit reliably with only .3 watts. However if you're faraway a site (say having a 1 bar on your fone's signal meter), more than likely you're fone would transmit between 3-6 watts. More power output watts, more battery consumption.
At my home/office location (Philippines), I normally have 1-2 bars (scale is 1-5, max is 5). My battery life is 1 1/2 days max under normal use. When I went to Hong Kong where even MTR subways and practically almost everywhere I went I had 5 bars, my battery lasted almost a week.
Hope this helps...

I agree with @Ying. I have used a T610, and at home where the signal is only 1-2 bars the phone barely lasts 2 days with only a couple of small calls, a few texts and a little GPRS. I've been working in an area where I get a full signal, and the phone will now last over 3 days! The signal does affect battery life, quite a lot as well!

i'll second that notion. on a good day, where i make and receive quite a no. of calls, SMSing, GPRSing, it can last me bout 3 days on full charge, and i always have full coverage in my area. also turning off bluetooth and screensaver helps too.
i wonder if its just me, or has anybody ever noticed that when the phone (T610) is fully charged, and then u turn off the phone, the batt meter indicator thingy is still moving, indicating that its still on charging mode....? and will i do damage to my phone if i leave it to charge overnight, say more that six hours? got a bad experience charging my T29 overnight, it went kaput the next morning!
