Amazing film. Only complaints are what was cut, which will be corrected by the DVD (mostly). The expansion of Gothmog's role was probably my favorite part.

But since everybody is complaining about the cut outs just imagine the roar they would get by not telling the end correctly...

I will definitely get the DVD when it comes out. I have to know what scenes they took out.

Gothmog is the leutenent of Morgul, or in other words the second in command of the force of Mordor which assults Minas Tirith. In the film he is the Orc with a puffy white face and missing fingers.

My favorite parts of both TTT and ROTK (books) was set up timeline-wise to take place in the ROTK film, however it was all cut, so I'm very much hopeing that the ROTK:EE DVD will have a ton of added and expanded scenes. It always seems that what I see as the most interesting/entertaining always ends up being the most expendable when books are made into films.

Oh, thats his name. Gothmog... Hmm.
Do you know who Lurtz is? I think it's spelled that way, remember we're discussing the films

I think that to make that part good they would have had to have vey much explanation about why, when and how. The movie is very long as it is and I don't think that they'd have liked to extend it further. Wait til the DVD

Lurtz is a film only character that was in Fellowship of the Ring. He was the Uruk-Hai commander who killed Boromir, and was then slain by Aragorn.

The Scouring of the Shire (the chapter in ROTK where the Hobbits return home and find things in disarray, involving Sauraman) was never shot, so there is very little chance it will be on the DVD. The number one complaint that I've heard from those who have seen this film is that the end drags, which I agree with to a point. I just do not think that scouring of the Shire would work in the film. Tolkien barely makes it work in the book.

Woch, that was a good and detailed reply. Very good! You even knew who Lurtz was, and I said we were discussing the films

Isn't one of the scenes cut from the film gandolf's taming of saruman right at the beginning of rotk. Also i guessed while watching that also cut was the bit where frodo and sam are dressed as orc's?
