I'm on Cingular and have the same problem with my T68. My daughter has a Nokia 8290 on Cingular and she gets delivery reports just fine. The options on my T68 are not available although they work with prepaid SIMs in other countries.

I suspect that this is a feature that is enabled in the initial off-air provisioning of the phone. Since us T68 users on Cingular are using "unsupported" phones that were never technically provisioned, this feature is lost in the void somewhere.

After finding the number to dial, instead of pressing yes, press the menu button under the yes button. This has the option to hide number.

The 'request reply' option has nothing to do with it; this feature actually makes the recipent (assuming you are sending the sms to another ericsson phone) get a prompt asking if they would like to reply to the message. On my t65 I have two options; request reply and status request. I am a UK Genie (btcellnet/O2) user and cannot get status request to work. It doesn't really bother me though.

Does anyone know why the status request option on ericsson phones depend on the network but the nokia delivery report doesn't?

Yeap the same problem we have here in NY with Voicestream.
That happens becouse the Nokia phones have the delivery report in the phone software.
But T68 try to see if the sim card suport that and then to active it.
The problem is the sim card doesnt support that but the network does...
So you can find the option in Nokia phones but no in Ericsson phones...
I already notify the Sonyericsson about that problem and i am waiting for a new version who its possible to fix the problem...
Will see

Actually, I know for a fact that the T20 and T29 both supports delivery reports.

Didnt work.

here, the prefix code for a detailed status report is *NM# to receive notification to your mobile (or *NF [number]# to receive notification to fax [number]). i think this is different with just about every service provider, so you should call up your customer service and ask them what code to use.

Hey Hey,

The request for reply (delivery reports) do work on the Orange network in the UK. Before sending the message type RCT before the first word without leaving any space. The RCT must be in capitals. This will send a message back to you when the message has been delivered. There is Orange even in India and it works the same way too. I have tried this on T68 and it works quite fine for me.

Hope this helps.
