Why is this option disabled in my T68 with cingular(LA Area) sim card?
I tried on my friends Nokia 5190 and it works. So it cant be network related.
By the way, the option is available when I put in my swiss(orange) simcard.

Thanks for any help...

Im going crazy that the 5190 can get delivery reports and my T68 cant...

Andre

Isn't delivery reports the same as status reports? Hmm, i know that this service is network related. Maybe you're using a pre-pay card?

I think it's Cingular Pre-paid service. They made the pre-paid service very limited in options, and if you want some more options, you have to get a contract with them.

I just tried this out with a Cingular SIM card right now, and he's right, it don't work but works on other SIM cards

it's strange that it works with the nokia, but still, it MUST be network-related, for here it works fine with my t68m. unless of course it's software-related, although that seems unlikely. i used the delivery reports when i had r1b software, and they still work fine now that i upgraded to r2b software... you should call your network and ask them the question.

Nokia call them "Delivery Reports"
SE call them "Request Reply"

Don't know why they just do!!!!!

Turn on request reply under sms options

Hope that helps

Took me a while to find it

It is something that is locked or released on the SIM as a function, and the network decides to have it or not. But there is also something on the phone which may or may not allow it, too - i.e.m my T68m did not show it, but my T68i does. In either case, it doesn't work fo rme on VoiceStream.

However, if it's any help to the Cingular guy, on VoiceStream, if you prefix the SMS with *not# , you will get a very detailed delivery report (the time delivered, message number, etc...)as an SMS.

the same problem occured here in greece with cosmote service provider.the problem was in the software of the phone, that "forced" the sim card not to show this menu(delivery report for sms)(while the same sim card was able to receive delivery report in nokia phones or other brands).
cosmote realised the problem and released an upgrade that fix it.
so,if you have an old firmware try to upgrade your phone or else report the problem in you service provider and probably they fix it in a future firmware.(something else you could try,and worked here with first firmware versions of T68 is to put your sim card in a nokia phone for example, activate there the delivery report in sms settings, and then put sim back to your T68.maybe this works)
hope this helps.

I beleive SE calls them Status Request. When I have my swiss(orange) sim card in my phone Status request is option number 9. With my Cingular sim card there are only 8 options and Status Request is not there. Why does this feature(with cingular card) work on Nokia but not on T68? With my swiss sim card Status Request works just fine.

Thanks Jeff.
But unfortunatly this command does not work with cingular. I tried it and nothing happened. Maybe cingular needs a different command? Please, if anyone knows the command for cingular, post it on the forum.

Ok, but it works with Vodafone... that's why I suggested it. [addsig]
