Sprint PCs has already started a mobile network TV campaign in the States... There are currently 12 television channels including CNN, MSNBC, and several others... As of now they have been able to play games online with other mobile users on that network, surf the net at bandwidths much much faster then the standard GSM GPRS data, and now they are able to literally tune to about 12 television cable channels right from the phone.. I still own a Sprint PC Samsung phone, but the big drawback is that I am not able to travel outside of the country with their phones... I had a chance to add the Mobi TV to my package and I must say it is quite interesting where their going with that.. The price of the package is extremely cheap. However, its because the company can afford the bandwidth to share streaming content with its clients. Here's a clip from the article:
"MobiTV offers TV for Sprint PCS users
News by Siddharth Raja on Friday November 14, 2003.
MobiTV has just launched one of the world's first live streaming TV services, delivered to mobile phones on the Sprint PCS network. Users will need to download a J2ME application to their phone which will enable them to view the live broadcasts. Standard TV features such as on/off, volume, and channel changing will be available directly from the program.
MobiTV has secured rights to some of the most popular channels in the US market, such as MSNBC, CNBC, Discovery, TLC, Discovery Kids, CSTV, CMC, and IMNTV. Other channels include CMC Beat Lounge, ToonWorld TV Classics, and Discovery en Espaņol. They claim more channels will be added over the coming months. The MobiTV service is available to Sprint Vision PCS subscribers for $9.99 per month. "
