I've just spoken to somebody at Carphone Warehouse Service centre in Leicester, he said that the upgrade is due in about 2 weeks & the phone will have to be sent off. He was unsure about orange users as they rewrite the software, but it's best to spk to somebody intelligent at orange. It is very likely though that Orange will upgrade the software at some point for MMS facilities.

@Fritz> What about CRC UK in Sandiacre? They are an Ericsson Service Centre. Might be worth giving them a call, may be possible they'll have whatever's necessary to do the MMS upgrade "on site". I'm going to call them sometime this week to see if they know when MMS is available and if they will do the upgrade or send the phones to Ericsson to get it done. If you are interested, the number is 0115 921 8000

I rang milton keynes but i assume that it will be the same for all CPW service centres, if the store doesnt have a service centre then they will have to send it away, i think there are a few service centres in London.

To clear all this up, as i just spoke to my brother who works in the carphone warehouse. The software will be available from the 20th of May, it isnt possible for them to do it instore, it has to be sent to scunthorp. But sending it and installing the software is all free. You take your phone in to your nearest store, they send it off, and you collect it from the store 3-5 days later.

All phone numbers, game high scores, personal pictures and ringtones, and anything in the callender will be wiped. And T68i dummy phones will be available for £15, and toy can take the front cover off, but not the back bit above the battery, or the buttons. Hope this helps. If any 1 knows anywhere in the U.K doing the upgrade earlier, let us know!

Danny.

That hasnt cleared things up, u may have spoken to ur brother who works at CPW but i spoke to someone in the store too, they told me that is would be available from 13th may, which is the date which ericsson quoted. They also said they could do it instore why you wait, i have been told this by two CPW stores. They can only do it instore though if they have a service centre.

Lets face it workers in large chains will often be told contradicting things cos of miscommunications which would be ironic for CPW.

Maybe R2D is for those who don't want the MMS software on their T68m.
