Agreed. It was fairly easy to setup my sony vaio running xp pro with the sony bluetooth dongle though I still believe that BT is no where near as simple as IR.

@DjVini,
Bluetooth works well with Win,95,98,ME, XP, 2000 etc.
Looks like you have not paired the devices before using.
Enjoy

@djvini
Upgrading window is unnecessary. Do the followings:
Point to bottom right corner "Bluetooth" symbol. Right click, Goto
Bluetooth setup wizard.
Follow thru' the process.

Hmmm this is strange... Best bet in my opinion is to now start from scratch; take the thing out, uninstall the software/drivers, and restart.
After that, start again! install the software first of all, and when it prompts you to insert your bt device do so. If windows xp autodetects it and then the installer continues, then all is fine. It may ask you about unsigned driver attempts, but ignore them as they're fine.
After install, try and run the setup wizard, if it doesn't detect any devices at all, then you've got a problem either with the actual hardware or your phone. Try to discover new devices on your T610 (enable bluetooth first so it stays on permanently).
By rights, it should find your pc and ask you to pair with it. Do so, and it'll give you a prompt for a PIN code, enter the same on each device and both will give you notification that they're paired. It is only when this is done that you can transfer files etc. between the two.
After this, right click the bt tray icon and try and send a file or something, it should definately work. If it can't create a connection, try sending something from the T610 and then try again, that usually works for me.
If this has all been in vain, at least check to see whether your USB connections are working fine Might sound stupid, but if all three haven't worked there may be a dodgy connection on the mobo. If these are fine and there's a light on the bluetooth dongle, then it is definately working! No windows problems, no hardware problems, it should run FINE!
If not, then there's definately an underlying problem with a communication link somewhere whether it be USB-BT BT-PHONE or both. If after this it doesn't work, by an infrared adaptor | |
