Hi Morten >

Hmm, guess you do have a problem with Telenor then.
I dont know if this will be of any help at all,..but this is how it works for me :

My internet-provider is called Cybercity and my phone operator is Teledanmark (TDC).

To get this to work I have to do the following :

Make 1 data-account called WAP. (APN=wap) this is for wap only.
Make 1 more data-account called INTERNET (APN=internet), this is for the email-client in T68i, and if I want to use the T68 as modem with my notebook.

The only thing I have to write in these data-accounts are the APN. Nothing else.

I know that some people in other countries, dont need to have 2 data-accounts,..they can get both wap and email on just one account.
But this doesnt work with my operator,..I need to make 2 data-accounts.

I use GPRS.

I start by pushing "send and recieve",..and it says "connecting",... "finding server",.."server found".

And IF there are any mails at all,..it will retrieve them, and they are put in my "inbox".
And the phone comes up with a "pop-up-message" saying : "You have recieved e.g. 2 mails".

IF no mails are found,..the message will appear saying that theres no new mails.

Afterwards, the "pop-up" with how many bytes and estimated time, then shows up.

Thats pretty much it I guess

In the email-settings in the phone, I have to write :

APN : well, this my dataaccount called (internet) NOT the data-account for wap.
username : (my internet/email username)
password : (my internet/email password)
email-adress : my email adress.
popserver (incoming mail) > my internet-providers smtp-ip-number.
pop-port 110
smtpserver(outgoing mail)> my phone-operators smtp-ip-number.
smtp-port 25
The rest is pretty much up to people themselves
*****************

One thing that people does not always think about is this :

Does your internet/email provider allow you to read email from a mobile-phone ?
Some internet-providers dont,..they only allow you to call the internet/email, from your ordinary phone-number (home-internet-connection).

Actually YAHOO! email will work in some countries, but not all.

If its Yahoo.COM it'll work. But in my case with danish Yahoo (DK) it doesnt work.

You have to check the following :

Go into your Yahoo-email
Choose > "OPTIONS".
IF you have a box called "ENABLE POP3",..you have to click it !

Then you can use your phone to retrieve email form Yahoo.

IF you DONT have a box called "ENABLE POP3",..then you cannot use Yahoo

TRY ALSO here on Esato >
To use the "SEARCH-function", or look back at older posts,..there are some posts on Yahoo and T68.

I had the same POP3-problems with my T68m, but after changing the server adress to IP it worked fine. So I guess it is not a "phone problem" but an operator related issue since it is the same way with my T68i.

MortenK,
It's exactly the same way with Telenor as Teledanmark, we need the two different data-accounts with apn being respectively wap and internet. Although with Telenor, you also need to include the other setting parameters. Instead of your isp's smtp server for outgoing mail, change it to telenor's which is public and local on the network. Try using ip addresses as jh67 suggested.

cnicolo > Your welcome
I believe it should work for you.
The danish yahoo doesnt have the option called "enable pop",..but the other Yahoos seem to have it

Fredrik > Ok, so Telenor is pretty much the same as Teledanmark.

On my T68M these settings worked :
pop adress (name) of Internet-provider.
smtp IP-number of phone-operator.

But on the T68i I have to use IP-numbers both places.

I dont really know why ? Might have something to do with the IMAP4 email-option.

Hello jh67.
Thank's for all information, what you have wrote down of settings are nearly the same as i have. The sw at T68i is R2A014, and i have also called Sony Ericsson support but thay cant try the settings with Telefon's mail account. That's because they are sitting in sweden, so for them the settings between Telia and T68i works just fine.
So if there are anybody here in norway who can try so set up T68i with the norwegian Telefon online.no i would be glad to know how it works.
The thing is what is wrong with T68i in norway when i send and receive email is follow:
I start by pushing "send and recieve",..and it says "connecting",... "finding server",.."server found".

And IF there are any mails at all,..it will retrieve them, then it just pop out. The sceen say's only how many bytes i have send and received.

So all the settings are nearly the same as T68m where all works just fine.

So if there are any norwegian out here try it and let me know.
smilys: The ip adress to Telefon mail online is 148.122.161.036, you use the same ip as incoming and outcoming server.

Hi John!
Congratulations with your T68i.

If you want to find the IP-adress of a mail-server you go to Programs -> Cmd.prompt on your computer.(It's MS-DOS)
You then write: "ping smtp.mail.gr" and you have the answer. 193.41.150.37

You can also ping your POP, but you didn't write the right adress.
