Handy Day 3.0 is alright. Tracker looks good, but I prefer the screen lock of HandyDay. On Tracker, the darn thing unlocks if the powersaving turns on. |

I agree, it looks bloody awful.
It's a maze of tiny icons with no sense of priority or balance, with buttons below and above and no sense of which is more important than anything else.
People who make these tools should take a gander at the Palm market - Silver Screen and MegaLauncher 2000 come to mind as good examples. Icons are larger, spaced wider apart for FINGERS not STYLUSES (gosh, maybe a thumb here and there). You can group in tabs which you can still switch with a thumb. Ease of use, not just organization, but they both keep your icons from being a total mess.

LOL, so no-one's doing the easy thing and using SMan's 'flush' function?
I use Handyday + SMan (freeware - developer posts here). Everytime i close my flip, every program closes, except those i've pre-set to stay running (which is nothing, except the 4/5 hidden background tasks). So much simpler than clicking anything after playing around!
And even if you don't use the flip, get SMan and put it as one of your prominent shortcuts on Handyday or tracker - whenever you've finished using the phone, simply goto Sman via the shortcut and click once on the 'flush' button - which does exactly the same as me closing my flip, clears away everything except those you want to stay running.

SMan is the one for me, it is great.
One improvement I would like is an option that when you click on the icon to run SMan it just does a flush - you don't see the program at all.
But still a good program.

Can you use Sman alone or do you have to use it with another program? Where do you get it? |

U can use SMan on its own if u want- just that many of us use HD or Tracker for better management of the phone, so u'd have to use one of the precious few top shortcuts for SMan if you dont have either. Of course, if you have the flip on you might not need to access it that often - just when you boot the phone, and then let the flip do it's thing! Can get it from www.my-symbian.com if l remember correctly.

EDIT: I did of course mean '.com'! Errrm, anyone tell me why the boards always call my P800 a 'WAP device' rather than what it is? I know it usually doesn't say anything as i use opera and browse the HTML forums, but for this post i went to the WAP site and you can see the result above

You get Sman from http://renegade.w3xs.com/ under Droll software.

To say that tracker is ugly is rather harsh.
It all depends on the background you use.
I have extensively used Handy Day 3.0 and Tracker. Yes, Handy Day's Today view is nice, but Tracker will have that hopefully this week.
Tracker wins hands down in my opinion, mainly due to Handy Day's great function of being able to drain a battery faster than I can charge it up. |

If you ignore the 'battery drain' problem (which has never existed for me, even before i started using SMan too - HD's never drained my battery visibly any faster than when i have no programs running whatsoever) - how does tracker compare then, on it's own merits? I'm very happy with handyday really, but just want to know if i am missing out on anything. As far as i could tell, Tracker doesn't have the same style 'desktop' or 'home' page like handyday, with time, calendar, to-do, new emails etc etc? And if it doesn't, then it's no good to me at all as this is exactly what I bought HD for!
Just wondering if i should look into it, or if tracker really is just a page of shortcuts like it seems from the usual couple of pictures floating around?

It uses this old windows 98 style icons on everything. it lacks style. it doesn't matter which wallpaper you use, cause the ugly icons ruins everything.
Tracker 2 on the other hand looks amazing...

@all:
Guys, I do not know how you eval these software, don't use HandyDay nor Tracker, but I feel SMan is infinitely cheaper than the other two plus you will be free to customize the source codes if you have the know how.
Cheers,
