Why dont you just go to the CPW on Union St to get your P800 upgraded?. Providing it is a GSM (not Orange) handset, and you have a proof of purchase it'll be done for you FOC, and usuallly within 24hrs. I've had mine done, with no ill-effects.

After much argueing with SE, they agreed to do the upgrade at SE Head Office at Berkenhead but I had to cover costs getting it their myself (another £4). I sent on a Thursday & got it back on the Saturday.
Celestica said they could not put R2D on an orange brand but both Orange & SE could not see why.
I finally got it done but am not impressed with SE & especially Celestica. Should have took it further but I couldn't be arsed after spending hours of phone calls between Celestica/Orange/SE.
Pitty you guys didn't do a search for Celestica first

psikey i am in exactly the same situation as u but im following it up as i have had enoght oranges attitude is crap se havent got a clue what is happeining and celectica takes an hour to speak to some 1 its a joke what happened in your situation email me if you would @ mad_taffy2k@hotmail.com thank man all i want it the r2d upgrade and it looks like i will need another 1 soon i hate all 3 companyers they are all gay and money grabbin fools |

Overdue Movie, thanks for the advice.
Unfortunately, it is an Orange handset. Still not sure what the situation is with Orange. Some people say it can be done in the UK and others say it can't.
I take it from your post that CPW will not put new firmware in Orange P800's ?

Basically I played hell at SE customer services by phone, eventually got through to a Supervisor/Manager & the man who actually does the Firmware burning at the Berkenhead Head Ofiice.
They agreed to do it for me as a one off (whats that saying - "Good Will Gesture") and they did it for me in 2 day turnaround. I ended up paying about £10 in total for postage to Celestica then SE.
Was it worth it. I suppose so as no longer have fault with camera or 10 second reset message or error messages during a backup plus Full screen pictures and mp3 in flipclosed mode (but not needed now the OggPlayer is so good).
The P800 with its R2D & 128MB DUO is complete for me now. Bloody great machine. |

Called CPW in Aberdeen today, they will NOT upgrade Orange handsets as Orange have their own version of the software and it's not released yet.
Tried calling Orange CS and I am waiting for a reply from them regarding a release date. Will let you know .....

well this is another argument going on some cpw do the upgrade and others dont ,
dose any 1 know if this breaks any part of my contract with orange i want to get out of it as this is crap i have to wait 48 hours sio they can look at the insurance issues i have had enoght nad to top it all off has any 1 seen the new orange tv advert

They had mine for 2 and a half weeks for upgrade from R1B to R2D, they put on R1D instead, got in back last week.... |
