Siemens SX1 delayed - go for T610 |

so... texting with 2 thumbs is much faster and only a dumbass could not use the sx1's keypad efficiently. i have read a report that using your thumb in texting too much is bad and will cause something like carpal tunnel syndrome on the thumb. 2 thumb used will lessen the burden on 1 thumb thereby decreasing the injury to it. in dialing that's why there is speed dial and like all phones just press a letter like M for example and all the corresponding names starting with M appears and you can just pick among the entries you want to call then press send. relatively easy for me. why make it seem difficult when it's not. many have upgraded their phones without anything not nice happening to it. i did upgrade my t65, 68i for it wanted to remove the bugs at the service center but i keep on bringing it back for something much worse always goes wrong in the process and i have to wait for weeks to get it back to me. i got fed up with SE phones.

A couple of things about the sx1:
I'm not really sure how good an idea having users upgrade their phone really is. There are some people around who could manage it successfully, no doubt, but the large majority of people would find some way to screw it up. Even if all the user had to do is press one button, users would break it.
Thus ensues possible problems wrt warranties and such. will upgrade the phones firmware if I ask them to, usually for free if I can remember my receipts - it's probably better that way. At least then if something goes wrong, it's not my fault.

The point is SE should make it offical and public e.g publish on their website on a new firmware release in order to inform users the option to upgrade the firmware of their phones -which they obviously don't!
There is obviously the risk of the phone being damaged for some novice to upgrade it themselves - but that's the risk the users have to take - and who knows, perhaps Siemens have designed the s/w with warnings and such? If they were to allow upgrades like that on the 'net.
I'd like to see better SE support to their customers, they've no doubt improved the range of phones (P800+forthcoming T610) to go against Nokia but they also need to provide good customer support if they want to retain the customer loyalty. |

3 Weeks ago Siemens Customer Care told me that June would be the release date. One week ago they told me that they didnt know any date.
Latest Xonio rumors say that Siemens staff are talking about finishing the phone middle-late July, so they will be available at the beginning of August.
Price range without contract 500-600 Euros.
I think that sounds pretty nice, perhaps I'll buy a T610 to check it out the next 2 or 3 months, but then I'll definately go for the Sx1. It's gotta be a ass kicker.

I find this discussion quite silly. The SX1 will not be out before november, actuallt probably later. The people in this forum who are talking about buying it should know that both SonyEricsson, Nokia, Samsung etc. will have similar models around november/december. Siemens are really fooling all of you, trying to stop you from buying a nice phone now. This is just the way Ericsson used to work. Now and in the future SonyEricsson, just as Nokia, will only present products that are more or less launchable - that is they are ready for production. Please guys do not talk about the SX1 as a butt-kicker since it is a phone that won´t be out for another 6 - 8 monts. Thats an entire product lifecycle from Nokia. In that time Nokia will have released 10 - 15 new models and Sony Ericsson will at least have the replacer fro P800 aswell as some other nice new phones. Foregt about the SX1! And buy a nice phone that is available to day - like the T610, 7250, V200 or whatever. In my opinon a T610 is the natural and obvious choice. |

As far as I know Siemens was always very tight with their launch dates.
When representatives say that it'll be out in August, then I doubt that it'll take another 3 months to release it. They are not SE and it's not the P800.... |

The thing is that it will always be new phones coming out. You can not keep waiting for something better all the time. When the SX1 comes out later this year we all will be dicussing something else that will be coming out early 2004 etc etc etc. The T610 is here right now. Buy it now and buy something new next year. I guess pretty´much all of us are the kind of people who buy a new phone every 12 months. So just go for it. T610!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

@tedsc456
Do u work for SE or something? Ur trying to force everyone to buy the T610, do u get a comission?
Surely everyone has the right to make up their own mind, and just because u like the T610 doesnt mean everyone has to.
And you think Siemens are releasing a phone to stop people buying a 'nice phone'?
Is that some kind of strange marketing ploy you came up with yourself?
Surely the only way to stop people buying a 'nice phone' is to release something they would rather buy?
Let evryone make their own mind up, and if they would rather have the sx1 than t610 (which i definitely do!), let them!

I for one will hold on to my T68 a bit, until something super comes along. The T610 doesn't really give me much new, except maybe polyphonic ringtones.
When the Z1010 get released we all have something new to talk about ;-)
