Siemens SX1 delayed - go for T610 |

Hi everyone! I just spoke to Siemens helpdesk. Thay told me the SX1 is much delayed and will not be released until late atumn - they guessed november. So you might as well go for the T610. I would also think SE will have something very nice instead of the P800 around that time. This is actually what i expected when i first saw the SX1. Siemens probably just presented it to confuse people about buying a nice phone from another manufacturer. S: T610 here i come!!!!!! |

Hmm... I would go for the t610 then :-) But at the time they release the siemens the p800 should be less expensive also...

Problem with SE phones :
Poor customer support - with firmware upgrades they dont even inform owners on new changes and such.
At least with Siemens, users are able to download the upgrade via the internet and upgrade it by themselves.
I'd rather wait for the SX-1.

I also can't wait for SX1 anymore. It should be a nice phone. They have good quality phones. Since it is using Symbian and Nokia interface, it should be the best out there when it comes out. Very easy to upgrade. Excellent firmware support. For example, S55 is already at it 12th rev. The problem with Siemens is they are VERY slow when coming out with new products. I was about to buy the S55 when T610 came out. When SX1 is ready to come out, SE will have the next generation of P800? This is going to kill Siemens. |

I got an idea!...people should buy what they want instead of everyone trying to force their opinions across

I think the sx1 looks an excellent phone and I'm pretty sure it will be my next phone.
I think it is superior to T610 in nearly everyway.
As for the release date in November, I find this hard to believe. Siemens do not have an official launch date yet, but I'd be very surprised if wasn't out by the end of the summer.
Heres a new pic of the sx1:

In my opinion the SX1 looks rather big and clumsy .. great disadvantage. |

i will still wait for the sx1 and definitely not get the t610 ever. siemens usa said that it will be availabe in the summer (june). i will also wait for the price to lower up till christmas then buy it. i'm in no hurry.
if you don't have something nice to say, don't say something nice. FUEHRER MEANS "LEADER" IN GERMAN STUPID. |

A couple of things about the sx1:
(A) @ Teomf
I'm not really sure how good an idea having users upgrade their phone really is. There are some people around who could manage it successfully, no doubt, but the large majority of people would find some way to screw it up. Even if all the user had to do is press one button, users would break it.
Thus ensues possible problems wrt warranties and such. will upgrade the phones firmware if I ask them to, usually for free if I can remember my receipts - it's probably better that way. At least then if something goes wrong, it's not my fault.
(B) @ LastQuark
12th revision of firmware? The phone isn't even out yet, how can it be good that they have made 12 firmware versions? Surely having one proven, tested and full firmware is better. Sure, I'll take my t300 (and my t68i, when I had it) to get its FW upgraded every now and then if its required, but I don't want to have to live in the shop, y'know?

That's a really clear pic btw, I like that
The phone looks like its going to be a bit of a nightmare to navigate. Lets say, for example, you want to send a text message and that is done similar to the way Nokia phones send messages.
Please remember that the following example is also based on the way I believe people would use it, this may not apply to everyone.
First, you'd have your right hand (assuming you're right handed) at the bottom of the phone with your right thumb navigating using the joystick and occasionally pressing the softkeys either side.
Then, when it comes to actually typing the text message, you'd have to change the posture of the phone and instead hold it in both hands, using a thumb on either side of the screen to type.
Once that's done, you could conceivably hold the phone steady with your left hand in the same position and navigate the menu again with the right hand, now shifted down to the bottom.
That's a whole lot of work, just to send a text message - plus of course this would have to be repeated to dial as well, unless you have uberlarge hands.
This is all compared to the completely (if you wanted to) one handed operation of pretty much all of the t300 (and other phones) features.
Ergonomically it seems more sound. Innovation in design is great, but sometimes manufacturers retain designs for a reason.
But either way, just my little rant.
