Just received this from Pilcon the supplier of Nextlink's Bluespoon Digital bluetooth headset:

"Dear Bluespoon Digital Costumer,

Regarding Your order for Bluespoon Digital, we unfortunately have to inform You that Nextlink have experienced another small delay from one of their many sub suppliers.

Pilcon starts shipping the new Bluespoon Digital from 1 June 2003.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause You.

Please notice: Pilcon will still be the first distributor to get the Bluespoon Digital."

VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!!

Mr Beeb> everyone should know by now that there are no certain dates in the mobile world. Being delayed is the norm. I am amazed when something actually arrives on the predicted date such as with the T610.

It is well understood now that technology should not be rushed to the market so I don't mind waiting for something good.

I will have my unit tomorrow, other "Beta Testers" will receive theirs next week and the production units will follow shortly thereafter. If you will check the link I gave you above you can read reports directly from Nextlink's engineers and CEO

"estimated", "delayed" etc it's all the same. It's misleading to the customers who are eagerly awaiting this product. I've made my order, given my credit card details etc AND I still don't know if I'm going to be getting my order next week. Someone at Nextlink and/or Pilcon should have the courtesy to give me a precise date on which I will receive the oder I have placed.

Being kept up to date with accurate and realistic delivery dates would be good manners and good customer service.

But you must realize that it is IMPOSSIBLE to give a release date before the products are produce and shipped to stores. Because before that anything can happened. Do you think it's missleading to the customers? Then would you preffer no realease date at all? Because I hope we can agree on that it's impossible to have a precise
release date with guarantee?

I'm surprised there is any "beta testing" taking place. I emailed Nextlink in March and they said they had no plans to beta test the Bluespoon Digital.

And what does "shortly" mean Bengalboy? days? weeks? months?

The Digital will be released in June to the public. There are 23 of us who are "Beta Testing" the Digital over the next couple weeks before it is released to the public. Nextlink is working hard to get it to market, but, due to some of their supplier's for such things as boxes, manuals, etc....the unit was pushed back from the original date of mid April. My unit has shipped and the other Beta Testers will get theirs sometime next week. I posted a thread above where engineers from Nextlink as well as the CEO have posted info regarding the delays and progress of the Digital. If you are really wanting to know what's going on, click on it and read.

Bengal

I am really VERY surprised there are 23 "beta testers" for the Bluespoon Digital.

At the end of March I wrote and asked Lars Stenfeldt if Nextlink had plans to beta test the product.

He replied to me by email and he denied any knowledge of plans to bet test the Bluespoon Digital. He said he knew nothing of this and said there would be no beta testing.

I have read your thread but it makes little difference to the fact there are excessive delays with the launch of this product.

Well you didn't read it very closly Mr.Beep or you would have seen this from Lars posted back on April 3, 2003

To all Bluespoon Digital (BETA) testers
To all Bluespoon Digital (BETA) testers!

I would like to thank all of you for participating
In the BETA best on our new product, Bluespoon Digital.

Since you are the first to receive and test the new product as well as having committed so strongly by ordering a test sample through Mark, I would like to offer you a replacement (free-of-charge) on your BETA product to a production model in May/June or a full credit and your money back
If you are not satisfied.

Your input and feed-back is highly appreciated and please feel free to contact me via phone or e-mail if you have any suggestions to changes or recommendations to the packaging or even the design. I will discuss your views and opinions with our engineers…

The new headset is using selected technologies from the hearing aid Industry (single DSP, software algorithms and paired electret condenser Microphones) and we hope to set a new standard in the quality of Communication with mobile phones, PC´s and PDA´s.

The hardware platform is new (single DSP and 256KRAM) and it is
Possible for us to re-configure the product with new software profiles which will give us more flexibility when designing new products in the future.

For more information, please visit www.dspfactory.com

We are already discussing new products for the near future and I will share our ideas with you early this summer.

I hope you will enjoy the new product.

Best regards
Lars Stenfeldt

PS! Thank you Mark for organizing the BETA test group

And this last post from Lars this week, May 14, 2003,,,

Bluespoon Digital shipping info.
Important notice!

Deliveries will be handled by Pernille (pernille.brinks@nextlink.to)
and she will answer al your questions, tracking numbers etc.

Please do not ask me, as I will just ask her, thereby waisting your time...

Last minute adjustments:

We have added some extra adjustments to the algorithms and
calibrated the speaker again, the software version will be "frozen" tomorrow and not changed until we receive your inputs. Next version will be in late June.

The only thing that has not arrived is the user manual in print,
but we will ship the new interactive CD and the manual next week.

Please note the pin code for pairing is 8888 and not 3333, even though we have printed this in the manual and CD, I keep on forgetting it myself.

best regards
Lars

and finally a post from Jan 2 days ago regarding my unit being shipped,,,,

Quote:
Hi Mark

Shipping out of Denmark today is one Gold Digital for You

We just had to get the new software into your set, before
shipping it,..but its on its way now.

User guide CD-rom does not have the real production design.
Its made on a normal cd-rom, not the real mini-cd-rom.

The booklet Users guide is only available on cd right now,..so
this is also on the supplied cd-rom.

In the production version, there are a very nice booklet Users guide,..
its simply hasnt arrived yet

I'll ship You a real cd-rom and booklet once we have them.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!

Heres your DHL tracking number : 12 17 88 98 16

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!

As written earlier, you will find that the topcover is a bit harder
than usual,..and the surface/paint/built is not as nice and clean
as the "real thing".
This will change for the production-models.

The box itself is a production-model, all new, arrived yesterday.
The interior will, in production-mode, there will be room for 4 plugs
instead of 3.
USB-charger cable is production-version.

Software is newest edition,..bluetooth handsfree profile,
multiple pairing, etc.

Cradle is the newest version,..production-model.

The rest of our Betatester-guys will get theirs next week

So, with all due respect, apparantly you are not reading the relevant portions of the thread or you would have known that in fact there are "Beta Testers" and the reasons behind the delay of the Digital's introduction.

Your threads mean "nothing" to me. I have a personal email from Lars at end of March that says there a NO PLANS to beta test the Bluspoon Digital. I have no interest whatsoever in your "self important" threads.

He may well have told you there is beta testing BUT he told me at the end of March there would be none.

Then you are simply a moron who is not interested in the facts! Just a whinner. As for spinning my tires, I am only responding to questions I have knowledge of and and providing facts to those members who want to know. It seems to me that anyone who doesn't want to really know what's going on at the expense of their pride probably wouldn't have anything to spin their tires over anyway......
