It is the new version. Ive been using it for a little while now...features very cool changes to the way pictures are messed with....able to select multiples for moving/deletion/copying. Also can mute the camera shutter sound, useful for perving with the camera, also features a night mode, and brightness can be adjusted. Also, photos can now be viewed in widescreen, and you can zoom in and out, and move around the picture.

Bullsh!t!
And FYI, you can already mute the camera by turning into silent-mode.
Edit, I found this on My-Symbian.

Firmware update for Sony Ericsson Phones is the same no matter where in the World you are.
Right now the latest firmware version for the P800 is R1D (for the phone) IN ALL THE WORLD... |

new versions of sw are not the same the world over...there are often subtle changes made to accomodate local network settings. R1D is the current version, but I AM running R2D, and have been for a little over a week.
@Raven, I know you could put the phone on silent, but the change to the camera sound means you dont have to. Now you can just change the sound itself from the camera menu.
Other than that, Im not sure what your problem is.
And I can tell you now that Orange will not be releasing sw flashes on the web. Firstly, the sw does not belong to them, it belongs to SE. Secondly, there is no way in hell SE want their customers flashing their own phones. It won't happen.
And a backup of my phone won't install R2D on any of your phones...you will need to wait till it's released. |

My friend I am telling you the firmware version is the same at any country you are.The name the feutures and all.
You have R2D before anyone else becouse the guy who make the update to your phone is knowing someone who can give the update to him before the official release date nothing more.
The only difference for the firmware is the Language.
For example the people in England they are going to flash the phones of their costumers at R2D (for example) with the English Language Pack but the guys at France are going to do the same but with the France language pack...
Thats all...
But anyway can you post some pictures and show us the new cool stuff? |

@JForce: Can you please find out if firmware will be possible to upgrade "do-it-yourself"-style (i. e. SE would make R2D AND an uploader software public), OR only service points can do the upgrade as usual.

@caff
UIQ 2.1 don't have to either be or not be in it. It might very well be patically there. SE can likely mix and match the cocktail of software and code from Symbian, UIQ and their own development. So they might be using some of the things UIQ 2.1 offer but not use all of it. |
