To be honest, I'm not sure Ericsson will ever be able to sort out the speed-issue of their current phones (not thinking about coming phones like P800 etc..). They've had 6 months to give both T39, T65 and T68 a resonable speed in the menu's and T9. But they have not fixed the speed.
The T66 on the other is as fast as a new Nokia, so I don't know what their problem is. Probably the software in T39, T65 & T68 is just slow! Who knows!!

This is very odd.
If you don’t like looking through the phone book by punching in a letter, you can press the joystick down and you will get the whole phone list easily.
As for speed, my phone is actually going pretty fast for punching in numbers and SMS (Nokia is a bit faster on sending SMS, but I don't see any huge difference in typing). The only delay I have noticed on my phone is when it’s loading the background from the standby screen, going into my huge inbox or playing around with MMS.
This is with my T68i, I haven’t had it that long yet, so I haven’t quite experienced all the options on the phone yet

I think the T68i is faster than the T68m! Hope the upgrade makes my T68m as fast as the T68i, cause writing an sms is sssllllooowww..

The t68i is much faster. Saving new numbers has also improved. You select option button under yes key and select save new. T68i is amazing! I love it.

10 sec to open the inbox?! when i had r1b software, it probably took a good 4-5 sec to open it, but now (with r2b) i just timed it, and it took just under 2 seconds to display the content of the inbox from the moment i clicked on "inbox". i have 19 sms's currently in the inbox, of which 7 are saved on the sim card. plus, i noticed an extremely significant improvement in the t9 speed when typing sms's between versions r1b and r2b. although i can understand why people say it's a little slow, and while i also felt this for the r1b software, i find the r2b speed more than adequate. if the t68i software is even faster, so much the better |

My phone is fast with two exeptions
1) First time you open a MMS
(ones you had it open ones its fast if you wanna open it again later)
2) When you edit a large iMelody and want to scroll to another part of the tune takes forever.
Other then that I have no complaints about speed.
T68i is what I use. |

Softwares will not significantly speed up the phone features. You will have to change the pentium chip inside SE units. Just like a computer, there is no point upgrading a later software when your computer lacks memory or has an old chip! In fact, consequently,it might make your T68i slower coz the later softwares eats up more free bytes. |

@ stblues- actually the newer "i" software (which is what was being discussed in this thread) does speed up the original t68 considerably, as well as add more features. phone firmware isn't like those Microsoft products which assume you'll upgrade your hardware to match; the programmers working on SE software work to make their code tighter, smaller, and more efficient, to make use of the existing hardware more effectively. if only uncle Bill would take note..
