This one isn't much of a flagship upgrade though. Don't get me wrong, I love the Lumia line up, but its a bit forgetful.

That's gonna change soon It's really kinda Microsoft holding back specs wise. When the next big OS update comes there will be support for better hardware and better imaging software. Cannot come soon enough

I hope it does. I'd like to see a Galaxy S3 shaped Lumia device. A HTC One X (not the One) shaped Lumia device.
They need to mix it up a bit because the shape and design has now pretty much been the same since the Nokia N9. Which then became the Lumia 800. Then the Lumia 920. Then this..
I can understand why they're doing it, with all the colours of WP and their phone casings, they're being different from every other OEM out there, but their own phones don't differ from each other that much.

The back looks very different from 920 and it is less rounded and less colourful more mature design.

Is that first pic of the woman on a towel in the sand; on page 1 ... meant to be an optical illusion?!
She at first looks like she's hovering due to the shadow ... but a second take she's on the sand and the shadow is from a flag

Just found out from a good source on Nokia users that the UK should get the black 32gig variant in a sim free model fingers crossed.

^ nah the 6300 was a poor excuse for using very thin 'sheet' metal. I'd like to think this Lumia 925 exudes craftmanship like the classic 8800; but that's just mho.
^ that bad boy was on everybody's dream list, probably more than any vertu design at that time.
There is only so much designers can do with the large touchscreen being the main focus of the majority of smartphones from all competitors. Thin, screen dominates 99.3% of the front of the design (soon company/provider logo's will have nowhere to be branded but on the back). You all know this to be true because even Apple had to now focus on the "edge" of their smartphones, with HTC following suit with the One.
The market choices by us all will tend to stay with our chosen platform for a couple more years until something very drastic occurs - either innovation, scandal, or more connected and vertical offerings go beyond the cellphone appeal itself.
Previous trends have proven this:
Smartphone:
Ericsson R380 (? - but a closed Psion OS)
Nokia Communicator 9002 (? I think)
BlackBerry on C++ (again closed pager system for email).
Then S60 went pretty much unchallenged for a long while.
Camera:
Ericsson (T68m& K700i), then SonyEricsson (T68i), K750i
Music:
SonyEricsson W800i (with firmware cross-over from the community with K750i getting some of its juice)
(yes I'm aware others of tried, and in fact it was Sony's MagicGateStick that appeared almost 2yrs prior on their phone, the CMD MZ5. It also featured digital CD transfer as well using Toslink/Optical Cable, first to offer stereo headphones, and had a line of speaker accessories).
So now we're in large screens, such advanced smartphone OS', pretty much on the verge of replacing our computers, thanks to on-board expandable storage and cloud storage solutions for everything (Box, DropBox, SugarSync, etc) or just for media (Flickr, Photobucket, etc).
So ... what is the next major paradigm? We have desktops, laptops, smart fridges/stoves, TV and entertainment systems, high-speed wired or wide area internet access ... even our cars are becoming increasingly connected. Mobile Payment is still a bit slow to take up as every diamond collared Rockafeller and their institutions want in on the action, and finally the retail stores, public transit and soon higher education (university/colleges) and work places will be using NFC for security badges - also in our phones. The only real thing left is these vertical markets.
PS: Has anyone ever wondered why its so damn slow to share a link to cloud based media from your smartphone? (it should be very quick should it not? Organization is very random and erratic, horribly so.) Anyone also wonder why these cloud storages still restrict us under 500MB to upload, even from our PC's via browser or program installed, unless paying crazy $$ to have higher upload limits? This in no way helps the end user and our devices are much more than capable and efficient and fast at doing so, so why the public free solutions being so damn limited)??
I think Nokia is onto something with the 925 here ... I hate those thick pastel, Teletubie, Lumia's ... I want to use them as a hockey puck! I see someone using them I look at them like a child with a dog holster being walked by their parents on a leash. But I degress, the 925 will do quite well I think.
