Well I'm due an upgrade next month and I was undecided between the arc or gs2 but now I think I may wait and see how the arc s performs.

Even though it's a little slab like & large I would choose the Galaxy S 2. Especially now as the white one hit the UK today

Looks good, but personaly i would walk right past the Arc and GS2 and get the new GS2-LTE with 4.5inch display and 1.5GHz Dual-core CPU.

Have not seen that one which is it?? I think though there has to be a point where displays stop getting too big. Cos they will be no longer MOBILE I think should have also bumped up the battery

I so wanted the front facing camera. I use Skype a lot. I love this phone so much. I can skip apple iPhone for this. But lack of front camera is a huge disappointment for me.

I think SE missed the boat on this one.

It's been 6 months since in the Arc came out and SE obviously want to extend the lifecycle of the Arc for another 6 months until the 2012 models are out.

Why just update the processor? Surely it would have made sense to also increase the RAM up to 768mb (min) and also increase the internal storage. But no, everything apart from the processor is stock 6 months ago.

SE are learning the error of their ways by giving us frequent software updates but they now need to keep up with competition hardware wise. The newest firmware update makes the current Arc pretty snappy so updating the processor does't achieve much (apart from a headline grabber) without upping the RAM. The underlying issues with the camera compression and internal storage still haven't been fixed.

For the current Arc user there is no incentive to get the Arc S. My only hope is the SE have got something special for 2012.

Still no 1080p? and native h264 support? why even bother to upgrade to this...

Why only think to people wanting to upgrade?
For the one not having the Arc (or any SE by the way), wouldn't this be considered a better competitor than the original Arc?

Don't know if it's such a bad move, while the 2012 lineup will be good (I presume!) this way they will use arc components to produce a phone which they can sell for the price of the arc one when it first came out, thus making more money of the phone then continuing the original arc one, which price would continue to decrease and obviously profit margins fall.

Or it could be that they did not have enough of the original chip sets (due to Japan earthquake) and thought it would be a good time to use a faster part (similar to the neo v though they made it worse their)

What? With a simple overclocking excercise they could've announced it and got it out tomorrow while it is still almost acceptable for a premium android to have single core. Q4 in SE lingo means end of December. They'll drop out of the radar next year at the rate they're going.

Wasnt their biggest fan, but since the OmniaHD they have grown on me, that GS2-LTE has made me a big fan lol, but if an SE with the same specs was around i'd pick the SE any day, unfortunetly there isnt, and i think once Ice Cream Sandwich is released the Dual-core SAMSUNGs are going to be a big problem not only for Apple, but fellow android manufacturers.
