It is not a mental issue mate. I get pissed off cos you spend money or sign upto a contract & end up with an expensive piece of shit. It's not good enough manufacturers pricing all these phones so high yet they are such a let down in reality.

Yes I know I praised the N8 but then the age old Symbian issue reared it's ugly head again OUT OF MEMORY.
And that was only when running Opera.

This is an Opera problem, not Symbian's!

Symbian used to have this problem, specifically in its latest S60 releases where it reached the peak with the N97 and S60V5!
However, Symbian^3 is all about a new platform with new core, and unless you push it to the extremes where not even a heavy user would need to push that far, you shouldn't witness such a problem.

Opera on the other hand have their own list of problems, and this belongs to that list.
Anyway, Nokia promised some nice browser in a max of three weeks time, you could have waited that little..

Also the Desire HD has great build except the sim cover other than that it's solid. I would also say has been known for the worst build quality on the market. In all the time I have had the Desire HD I have not had any hardware issues

By build quality, I wasn't referring to type of material the phone made of!
I was hinting to reliablity issues, accidental falls, and hardware degradation by time..

SE may build their products mostly of plastic materials. But those are real solid devices not just feel solid. SE phones aren't prone to drops and other similar unfriendly situations.

Once, as I shot my Satio (unintentionally of course , it was after I silenced the alarm and rolled over ) from bed where it flew to hit the metallic leg of my desk table then diverted to hit the wall and then fell on ground!
I didn't believe it stayed in one piece, let alone, still functioning all right!!
All it got is a tiny scratch at the side only recognizable if one gets the phone really close to the eyes!

Try simulating that with an HTC phone, and I assure you it will break into pieces! I witnessed a friend's HD2 screen breaking in pieces with less than half that impact of the Satio!

though yes the speaker is weak but I still sometimes hear it out in a noisy street & vibrate is strong. The screen looks fantastic & yes it's true it is not as vibrant as S-AMOLED but I care not. I have not any marks on the HD screen build is solid. As for the Nexus well, before I sent it back a tiny hair thin mark appeared at the bottom of the screen after one day. Thankfully the store never noticed this but I did. No such occurance has happened on the HTC. The Nexus & the Wave both became so hot whilst using them it worried me. It was far hotter than a normal phone goes & as I said it then shut down. Samsung do make great hardware sometimes but some of their hardware causes me concern. The Samsung Wave over heating issue is on the web it was not just me.

As I said, I wish you luck with your new choice phone.
And thanks for your objective feedbacks on those phones.. Everyone is struggling to find objective online reviews nowadays.. And many are fooled by those big media outlets..

Everyone could also go your way, ordering and sending back to eventually reside on a phone, but not everyone got Bono's patience and "fussy taste" either.

Yes,well I see your point but a phone that is PRONE TO DROPPING Is there a type of phone that falls from your hand or jumps like a frog?? I still love as I have an Aino coming but from past experiences their phones have never been very sturdy in construction. Lots of wobbly & creaky bits. The HTC is only vulnerable due to large screen & that it's quite heavy it would probably hit the round harder. I am sure if made a solid metal made phone with a huge screen it would be the same damage from a drop. @buntoo thanks I think I have now. But I will also say HTC I have never had any creaky or wobbly bits. Yes the sim cover is crap but it does not fall off or creak

The new Symbian^3 browser will be here in 3weeks??? ,i thought it was coming in late Feb? Looking forward to the upcoming Symbian updates, Nokia better have gone all out as 2011 is going to be quite a year in smartphones it seems.

As for build quality ive had the SE W800, W900, W880, K850 and X10, and they had great build quality, i loved the solid block feel of the K850, i'd say my ol' time favs in that area are the K850 and the Nokia N8, both built like tanks.
All manufacturers have their moments though e.g. the SE W850,S500 and its Walkman variant having cracking keypads, Nokia N73 with joysticks falling off, N95 with wobbly slider and flimsy back cover, Samsung U700 and its peeling paint etc... Lately they seem to have improved with the exception of the iPhone.

Bigger frogs are harder to handle! So the HD could fall easier..

I still love as I have an Aino coming but from past experiences their phones have never been very sturdy in construction. Lots of wobbly & creaky bits.

One has to generalize here, not only point to specific models from each manufacturer.
SE generally make reliable and well built solid phones. HTC generally don't.

And believe it or not, before the N8, I owned only SE phones.. Well, mostly..
And despite that I'm far from a reckless owner and do pay much attentions handling my phones to keep them in top stand, I did heavily drop almost every phone I owned more than once.

Other than that, not one single SE suffered any hardware issues with time.. Though I don't keep phones more than one year usually.
Only the Satio came with the Xenon defect, but that Xenon flash was replaced and functioned all right beyond that.

The HTC is only vulnerable due to large screen

Why is that?
Well made screens should be solid enough to survive low drops or soft hits regardless of the size!

& that it's quite heavy it would probably hit the ground harder.

All objects fall at same acceleration, the gravitational acceleration.. Mass could increase the impact, but we're talking about negligible numbers here.. No role at all.

I am sure if made a solid metal made phone with a huge screen it would be the same damage from a drop.

The X10 is not made of metal, but only 35 grams lighter and at similar size..

used to make some of the most unreliable phones ever do you not remember that crap period they went through?? Phones falling apart, breaking down & terrible software?? Do you not remember that?? Why you say HTC make the most unreliable phones I never know cos I have not had any issues with mine regarding reliability. And I never said the X10 was made of metal.

Are referring to the P-series?!
Other than that, their feature phones for the past five to six years are of high-quality! Again generally speaking..

Software problems are always there with SE.. It's one of nature's laws..

Why you say HTC make the most unreliable phones I never know cos I have not had any issues with mine regarding reliability.

This is the common thing.. What the users/reviewers say over and over again..
And despite that I didn't own an HTC yet, and probably never will, few of my friends did, and they did confirm this point.

And I never said the X10 was made of metal.

A little misunderstanding here..
You asked for a heavy metallic SE phones as a comparison..

I claimed that the X10 is a bit lighter (no need for it to be metallic) and of similar size..That's all.

I swear you've had more phones than that in 2010. The W995, LG Arena and iPhone 4...? Anyways, I don't blame you for changing your phone so often ahaha. I get bored of phones easily. And I've bought phones which I've returned/stuck back on ebay because I didn't wanna keep them in the end. I'm now on a contract with an iPhone 4. It's a great phone but I'm starting to get bored of it already. I fancy buying myself a spare phone to use when going out etc so I don't bugger it up.

Not really a fan of HTC myself. Know someone who has the tatoo and they say it's a pile of shit, however I know someone who has a desire and they say it's really good, although andriod apps aren't the best. Tempted to get myself a blackberry from ebay or something

No I know I have a lot of money right now but I cannot afford to keep doing it. Matt did you not notice I said I have kept the HTC. So that means yeah I am happy. Yes I have had more phones than this in the year but I was just referring to what happened recently. An Aino is something I want Matt
