Next year the top 5 mobile vendor list will look like this, closely. First will be still Nokia right after them on second place Samsung, now on the third place I think there will be a change coz Apple will take over Lg, and Lg gets the fourth place and on fifth I'm hesitating in R.I.M. and HTC. Unfortunetly I don't think that S.E. could climb back to the top five vendors. I'm really sorry for them |

This business is very unpredictable & you cannot really know that for sure. I mean wherever I seem to go in shops lately in the UK alot of phones are sold out so I think it's hard to tell & as someone said that chart is not accurate or upto date

SE is not as popular in US and in other regions. I've seeing more people with phones than Nokia phones here.

I have acces to real time Dutch sales figures and I can tell you the list is (for The Netherlands anway) accurate. The order is a bit different, but they are actually the top 5 vendors now. SE is sixt, with the X10 selling a lot less than Desire and Galaxy S

And I think resources has a big part why SE can't come up with a BIG BANG. Just look at Samsung, one of the biggest ang richest company today, had been releasing phones at their disposal. |

But with a name like Sony behind the brand I really thought they would have the access to top hardware, software & always be pushing out the latest tech. But it never seems to be the case as shame as it is are still lagging a bit behind in tech

Many thought that the joint venture of Sony and Ericsson would be for the better. It turned out otherwise. They have great hardware phones like the X10, but they are always lagging behind in software development in the android front.
I even have friends who call SE phones as Sony phones and they associate it with great hardware because of the branding. But most of the time, these are just marketing ploy. Like with the Walkman series before, the phones has no dedicated sound chips as compared to the music phones of Nokia. It has no 3.5mm audio jack, etc.
I do hope that with SE's upcoming lineup like the PSP phone and the rumored SE Anzu, they will not take the few remaining SE fans for granted by not keeping their software up to date as the rest of the other manufacturers do.
The two top cellhpones currently being sold out here are Nokias and Samsungs. SE shops are one by one closing shops here and does not even have local parts support for their service unlike with Nokia and Samsung. Nokia has to shape up also in terms of their Symbian lineup but the Symbian following here is still quite strong. RIM is also slowly gaining ground with their Blackberry messaging service. |

I agree with SE always lagging behind software development. Personally I think SE phones always have great hardware with lots of potential to win the competition but is then put to waste due to the limited software they put in it. Modified Camera Drivers and Acoustics show that their phones really have the potential to beat their competition but is then neglected by SE, the good thing is that SE seems to be really focusing on their android phones now even though it came out late improving video recording putting continuous autofocus on their X10's minis and pros. Hopefully they'll continue and improve software development and support also their other platforms j2me and symbian to be able to get back on the top list again.
