BEST video recording? |

From my experience the Nokia N8 and iphone 4 have the best video quality. As for SE the Arc has the best of their range but not a patch on Nokia or Apple. The latest phones with full HD I have no idea of. Samsung Galaxy is the best so i hear. If you want THE best video recording ever then for proper digital cameras the Sony HX7 & HX9v are superb quality in full HD AVCHD format the best out there. I have the Sony HX9v. Mobile phones are shit imo for recording video

Well I'm not after THE best video recording.
I'm only after the best video recording possible on a phone.
And what good is a good video recording, if you can barely hear the sound? It's useless. Therefor, Vivaz / Vivaz Pro is useless for video-recording. And Arc/Neo/Ray is close to useless too when updated with newer firmwares. (If you're running an old firmware, don't update!)
We can still hope that SE fixes this in a new firmware, but history shows us that's very unlikely to happen.
I have yet to try iPhone and other brands. I might some day. |

The Samsung Wave GT-S8500 has the best HD video recording available, great color reproduction and awesome detail level.
See here GSMArena Samsung Wave Video Recording
Since I own one and had the opportunity to test it against my brother's iPhone 4 and my other brother's Nokia N8 I can tell you the video recording on the Wave is the best I've seen in a phone.
Also the hardware is pretty powerful , you will not lose any frames.
On the down side the HD video recording takes more space compared to other phones, given the fact that the video compression is low for good quality so you need to buy a big capacity memory card. Cheers

And how is the audio volume in those video-recordings, compared to N8 and iPhone?
Everyone seems to completely ignore audio. But to me it's equally important as image quality. Too low audio renders the recordings useless, no matter how great the picture is. |

The audio quality is the same as the iPhone 4's. It dosen't record in stereo like the N8 does but the audio recording is good , the mic has great sensibility and does not distort.
Edit: Also, I forgot to mention, the LED light is very strong and I mean VERY STRONG so there will not be any problems recording during night time.

Ok. I've just checked out a bit YouTube videos.
Sadly the example at GSM one can download, won't play on my computer.
But I might check out the Wave later. Currently I'm fed up, and tired of spending money and time on phones that just doesn't give me what I'm after. |

Ok, I've searched before posting this thread, but all the existing threads about this subject seems to be 2 years old or more.
Yesterday I was making a lot of video recordings with my SE Aino, and Nokia N82. I used my SE Aino first, because I prefer SE, but when it began to have trouble I switched to the Nokia N82.
Looking at the videos today it's CLEAR to see when I switched to the Nokia, as the quality is so much better.
N82 better then aino ??? (N82 video quality is way WAY more unstable then aino).
another thing you forgot is the sound...Aino´s video recording sound is absolute CRISP (and loud).
N82 sounds like a old Mono radio compared to Aino.
# Arc have the best video quality among all Sony (second place is Vivaz)...thats my opinion
720p sample by Arc........

Yes, N82 is definitely overall better than Aino regarding video-recording. But not enough to make N82 my preffered phone.
N82 does much better in dark surroundings than Aino. But I agree that Aino gives much better sound.
Anyway, you're replying to stuff I wrote a year ago. Read the rest of the thread to get updated on the topic.

It has a video recording sample but camera is terrible

I recently compared Xperia Ray + Nokia N8, and was surprised to find Ray to be best.
Nokia N8 gives yellowish/greenish colors, while Ray gives more accurate colors.
And the sound in N8 sounds like you're standing inside a bottle.
On Ray the sound is way too low though.
So overall they're probably equally bad/good. But if you boost the audio from Ray 250%, then Ray is a clear winner regarding video-recording when compared with N8. I didn't expect that. |
