Saw similar cases on "don't get screwed" on the Beeb. In short anything you leave behind where management should protect it, if it gets stolen or damaged you should be compensated. Check some of the episodes on iPlayer. Also this forum could help you, they got some very knowledgeable regulars there.
About disclaimers, they do not hold up in court. Just because there is a sign saying "management is not responsible for loss or damages" doesn't mean it is lawful. Again as seen on above show, say you leave your shoes at the bowling alley, a sign disclaims and responsibility by management and they lose your shoes, they will still be liable for it. I would search the forum I mentioned, or sign up and post it, they will tell you exactly what to do. In most cases you write a letter to explaining your rights, pointing out the law and tell them to compensate you.

If someone has it in their safe keeping in a safe for instance then they are liable if it goes missing. I had to sign a disclaimer form the other day when in hospital saying that i kept my valuables on me.

@blerk
I saw that because my teacher's were on it
When they asked about the CD think the 2 scousers were them , made an arse out of themselves.
Anyway, school said that "we can not claim on the insurance because the claim would be less that £2000", which IMO, is a load of sh** lol.
Any more help please
