They meant that one FW upgrade will not be sufficiant but several FW updates which would be logical and this was and will always be the case for all the mobile phones ever!
Apple try to destroy the image of the Satio by saying it's buggy like if it was the only buggy phone in history
Yes T3 is sponsored by Apple,I was reading T3 magazines for 1 year and OMG every single article, preview or review of even a coffee maker should be related to iphone or ipod

Sony Ericsson Satio sales suspended
Two stores pull handset due to buggy software
The stores have temporarily halted sales of the Satio until manufacturer Sony Ericsson offers fixes for issues that customers raised, which include random powering-down and slowness. (See our review for some user comments that have raised similar issues).
Apparently, a firmware upgrade won't fix the issue, so the handsets must be recalled.
I have been complaining here about inability to write decent SW for about three years, seems to me do not take any notice of ESATO!
as for this nonsense "Apple try to destroy the image of the Satio by saying it's buggy l" IT IS NOTHING to do with Apple saying the Satio is Buggy,
Sony Ericsson are doing a great job of proving its buggy themselves!
I have a Nokia 5800XM that runs the Symbian S60V5 OS Flawlessly yet have to muck about with it and the result is two of the biggest retailers in the UK suspend selling the phone as it wont work! Same with the X1 the panel destroyed WinMo I tried one and it stank! and I fear the Android X10 will be equally badly crippled by them. The problem is cannot write software NOT that Apple make nasty comments!

+1 Nitro. Exactly.
A lot of issues are SEs fault, not S60v5. Satio has the best hardware around yet you still read about it stuttering when running multiple apps, like Media if i remember correctly. Very very poor optimization by SE. A 5800xm with 128mb RAM and a ARM11 CPU at 434mhz running S60v5 can run multiple heavy tasks FLAWLESSLY, yet Satio with 256mb RAM and ARM A8-Cortex TI OMAP3430 CPU with graphics acceleration, cant do the same without stuttering, thats very worrying, its a complete waste of brilliant hardware.
As for Apple trying to destroy Satio, LOL i think its the OTHER WAY AROUND, but clearly Satio is failing to do that. i dont think Apple need to destroy Satios image, SE are doing that just fine by themselves.

As someone mentioned before, it is something to do with a particular batch of production. P4U first started selling Satio in UK even before any retailer/service provider. Then came, Vodafone, Orange and CW and followed by others. The last to follow is O2.
I think the problem people are talking about is all to do with particular batch of the phone. I would be lying if I say I did not have any issues. I did. But low in number.
Some percentage of all phones, when launched in the market is buggy. The manufacturers fix it through firmware updates. It is true for any operating system, be it for phone or computer. I think we are being too paranoid here. Let us all wait and watch what happens with the new firmware.
Yes I am still being optimistic because I love and I love Satio for various reasons.
At the end I would just like to say to, do not let me down.

Some people love to flame a mobile phone for fun!
Since when nokia, motorola,HTC and others are doing perfect phones without FWs updates??
It took 3 FWs for the 5800 to be stable for example!
It took more than 1 year for Apple to reveal the hidden bluetooth of the ipod touch 2G thanks to the 3rd version of the OS...
Does the Satio has HARDWARE bugs???? NO!
So have a life and give SE a couple of days to release the first FW update, the Satio has only 1 month old after all.

I think the Satio is just a deserving victim of higer expectations from modern smartphones. Some of the "hardcore" users here are well versed in all the usual niggles and snags that have come with every new smartphone (particularly Symbian or Windows Mobile smartphones) for years, and aren't too fazed by the Satio's bugs, or even overlook them. But the thing is, smartphones aren't just the preserve of those people anymore, they've gone mainstream. Satio is competing with phones running much newer, slicker OSs and coming off badly in the comparison. People used to dumb phone reliability or the likes of an iPhone or Android device just aren't going to put up with all those old Symbian quirks, so for them it's just a case of putting it back in the box and chucking it back at the shop.
The good old days of geeks like us having "patience" with buggy new smartphones and perservering to "get the best" out of a flawed new device are over - the bar has been set too high already.

Yes I said previously that when I had a w995 mine was made in 09/wk37 which I believed to be a bad batch. Others had theirs made in say 09/wk36 & they were fine So thats why I think its when certain Satio's are made in certain weeks of production

Here in sweden they still sell satio. no problems like those in England is reported. Som minor bugs in the software but not any big ones like they who have been recalled.

with respect IF this was the first time have had problems I would agree BUT as I pointed out I have been complaining about SW for a very long time they simply cannot write decent code, I thought they had learned their lesson and I was keen on the X10 but having seen the list of additions to the device I am less enthusiastic I am totaly fed up with being disappointed by
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

Great post Boinng IMHO you have summed the situation up perfectly.
I think Sony Ericsson have a lot of thinking to do if they want the X10 to be a device the networks are going to take, The P990 did a lot of damage to their reputation to the extent many did not take the P1.
I may well sound like a basher and to some extent I am, and for good reason have consistently taken my and others hard earned cash and delivered sub standard product, which they then as good as disown when we seek solutions! they do not listen to their finest advocates and generally behave with stunning arrogance no wonder they lost so much money.
I sometimes wish we could wind back time to the innovative days of the P800, it will be a long time before I ever buy an device at launch time!

Hi I am sure they have, but my point is magazines like T3 have played a huge part in the hyping of Apple as they need to be seen as "Trend Setters"

I seem to be posting this same reply in multiple threads each day because people seem to want to ignore the fact not all Satio phone are bad.
Mine has behaved like a phone with mature firmware since day one, except for the odd minor oversights on SE's part when it comes to customisation of S60 (standby themes etc).
I am utterly convinced now that the phones recalled and taken off sale in the UK retailers shops are of a bad batch. It wouldnt be the first time SE have recalled phones made in certain weeks. I got my Satio towards the end of October. I know it was from a fresh delivery to CPW where i bought it because they were selling so fast CPW couldnt keep up with demand. People like all these posting negative comments IMO have faulty handsets or bad customisation in their countries markets. Theres no other reason why some have all these problems, and some have none like me.

boinng is spot on. the satio is a crackin device. it just needs a little time and patience..firmware updates will help..no doubt. alot of of the known bugs are present on the omnia hd. at least you guys are guarenteed updates. i have to use italian updates as the hd standard firmware releases are non existant.. |

Hmmm... I have unbranded Satio and didn't noticed any hardware problems. The point is that I miss some functions like equalizer and RDS better battery lifetime.
All of it is FW problems so... I'm waiting for new one with repaired bugs.
