Purchased my Satio |

Can anyone else confirm that the PAYG Satio on Orange from Carphone Warehouse is unlocked and unbranded please. Went to my local store and as usual they were as much use as a chocolate tea pot. After first telling me Satio wasn't available on PAYG (even though I was pointing directly at the ad!) they insisted that all their phones were locked... oh, and then they said it didn't matter any way as they had none in stock.
Not doubting Gregpot but just want to make sure as I don't want to have the same hassle I had with my son's 5800 recently that was sold as unlocked but wasn't.
Thanks

Op,
please post pictures of the retail product FAST! Also would LOVE to see a video of the games that ship and their performance. Also the email program - in's/out's - of it.
Thanks for the news.

I was very surprised to see it on Pay as you go as well, as normally they only come out on it a few months after, not on release date!
My brother in law is also a manager at phones 4u and he said it surprised him as well!
So i went in to Carphone warehouse ready to buy it sim free for £500, was abit sceptical about giving them my money as I’ve had alot of problems with them in the past, but when i saw it for sale unbranded and unlocked on PAYG for only £400, there was no question of where i would buy it from!
Also I couldn’t find anywhere that would sell it me sim free and with insurance, not an option after paying £350 for a c905 and dropping it down the toilet!! So this was ideal for me!

Tale of two Carphone Warehouse stores:
So I saw this news and rushed out to buy one. Victoria Street (London) store couldn't be more helpful. Even saw me browsing at phones and waved a Satio under my nose. Told him, "yes please" at £400 on Orange PAYG, unlocked, unbranded. It really is. Unfortunately, he went to the back room and the last one was "reserved". Told me he could order me one for tomorrow.
I hedged my bets and thought, I'll try another CW. The idiots in St James Park tube CW had plenty, but told me they weren't available on PAYG no matter how much I showed them the price ticket and told them that Victoria Street would do it, just that they had no stock.
Frankly, I don't want to give the St James Park idiots my money. And told them that. Was going to splash £400 on the counter there and then, but now they can ram it.
God, I hate the inconsistencies of Carphone Warehouse. Why do they treat their customers like idiots? Especially for such vast sums of money? |

Gregpot,
Can you tell me which store you purchased from please. Every store I phone locally refuses to sell one on PAYG despite it being clearly advertised.

Hi Adam
It was the local store to me in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
I was shocked to see it in the store, as it’s not even advertised on PAYG on the website.

When these top of the range phones come out sometimes some store are reluctant to sell them sim free at first or on pay as you go. Why? Because what some bloke in one store once told me they want them saved for contracts early on. Its wrong but thats what i was told

Please tell me - the battery lasts at least a day on a full charge. And how is the video recording? Better then the good old n95? And does it run the n97 programs without any issues?

Most phones will last a day even ones with poor battery life. It all depends on your individual usage.

Hi, i only got this baby yesterday and i thrashed it to hell with Mp3, Video, Java games and lots of xennon flashes, so yeah it kinda run out this afternoon (17.00ish) but i reckon i`d get the same usage as my C905 on a normal use.
I have successfully installed Scummvm and am currently playing Broken Sword II, will try Monkey island and Beneath a steel sky later. As for other S60 apps i cannot comment.
Overall i am very impressed with this phone and would not take my C905 back if it were free. |

ok, so CPW is back in the good books.
Crouch End were happy to sell me one on PAYG for £400+£10 SIM (Orange).
It's black, and exactly what I wanted.
Best of all, it comes with premium headphones and the TV Out cable
Thank you. Very happy. Checking out all the features, starting with RoadSync / ActiveSync |
