Pm sent. Sorry I referred to you as Bonnie! Update: made mp4s in M3 with IPod settings. The files wont play in my W580i- a good sign maybe. Will test at the store on the display model soon. But I havent been able to get M3 to convert from a DVD; is jetaudio capable of doing this? Is it free? Awaiting your demo, Tom |

If the software you use is super consistent, I'd consider downloading. Its not M3 quality though, noticeably more jagged and with rasterization in those true black areas. Is the clip from a DVD? I get better results with tv recordings using M3. The results are way more HD/DVD looking, smooth and vivid. I'm getting great results with avi files on M3, but often a complete fail too- I mean no output file av all- after 5 secs or 3 hrs- its very frustrating. I'm playing around with format factory as an alternative now, got a great result with a full length movie using the settings for ipod, but I must have set something incorrectly, since that mp4 doesnt fill the screen so well. I then upgraded f factory and there are way more device choices: c908, xperia, p1 all in one group, others for 'generic mp4', 'ipod, A-something/ BASIC/sony phone' is what I'm going with next. Is jetaudio set up in groups of devices? If so, whats the c905 grouped with-phone or not? Because I think converting to the right *kind* of mp4 is the key- it has to be the 'ipod type' of mp4 it seems, and jetaudio is doing it right. What options for device are you given? Right now, I'm using DVD fab platinum on a full length movie direct from a disc to mp4; which worked really well with a short DVD earlier. Since I can convert a DVD to avi pretty readily using winavi converter, I'm not too worried about those transfers. A reliable avi to mp4 converter seems to be my requirement. Some pc clean up can work wonders for M3...sometimes! And i'll see how format factory pans out. If both those fail, I'll use your method. Its not bad at all. Thanks for your help. Tom. |

Now I'm having all kinds of problems. Reinstalled m3, updated format factory (which, as said, is super updated-looking with all kinds of models listed) but no luck. I think there's some DivX clashing between the various programs going on or something . Well, I've been playing with DVD to mp4 conversion with DVDfab platinum and discovered something very interesting: if one makes an m4v file under 'ipod' (which the phone wont play) and then manually changes the file extension from .m4v to .mp4 IT WILL PLAY in the C905! I am amazed at this- simply changing the file 'type' makes this not-so-smart phone realize that it can play your file! |
