When will SE change the standard charging port |

The Fastport is designed to be one port which does everything.
Compared to the Mini USB on my V800, it charges the phone when connected as a modem which means you dont have to sit next to a power socket when online. I wouldn't like a return to the bad old days.
3.5mm jacks just transfer sound, SE's Fastport allows many other functions to be operated from the headphone cable.
While I don't think have any plans to change the Fastport - nor should they IMHO - there were calls at MWC this year to create a standardised charging port across all maunufacturers and Nokia, SE and others formed an agreement to work towards this by 2012.

Well, my previous solution was to charge my batteries externally, using the CBC-100, listen to my music through my DS205 and sync my phones with MyPhoneExplorer through bluetooth. This way, I almost never needed to use the fastport. However, with my new desktop, I've got some problems with the bluetooth connection with my phone getting disconnected and have resorted to using the data cable again. I would, of course, very much rather SE used a generic mini/micro USB connector and a 3.5mm audio jack, but there are definitely ways around it if we tried. |
