I think that is a Symbian problem and not related just with P800. I have a Nokia 9210 (Symbian too!) and when I send a message it just says "sending message" and when the person receive it display "message sent". The problem is that this second message don`t plays any sound and if you get the phone in your pocket you simple don`t ear it. And after that the message disapears. So if you don`t have the eyes in display you simple don`t see it.

......."sending message" & "message sent" are not what is being disscussed, delivery reports are a DELIVERY CONFIRMATION
@talla this can be activated on o2 UK by putting *0# (star zero hash) at the begining of your text ie; *0# Hello fred........
Sorry but it`s every message until they can sort it out to be a sim activated menu item. if you are on Orange UK use the code RCT in the sme way.

talla: Haven't you noticed how much more evolved phones mms sending capabilities are than sms? (I have t68i) when you make an mms message you get the option to send it to more people, you can rename mms messages, store them in an archive ++
Smsing on a phone is very basic. Apart from t9(which all phones have these days) my t68i is no better(disregarding speed and storage space) than my old r320.
While for example nokias you can send to many people, rename smses, make folders.(the only major area where nokia excels). Except for ems... but it gets VERY little use here in norway at least...
