Daedalus can i ask u a quick question. Ive just switched from pay and go to the £20 simplicity. Very good deal imo and very happy with it but why is download speed slower on pay and go? |

Because contract customers are the more likely users to use the full network speed, and as the mobile market (thats all networks) got pushed into the mobile data revolution a little early by the likes of CPW, the networks have been forced to apply caps and limits to their networks.
In O2's case, it's maximum 3.6mbps on pay as you go, and maximum 7.2mbps on contract.

3.6mbps on payngo? so u can download 3.6mb in a second? sorry if that sounds like an ignorant question. the fastest i get on 3g is 40kbpp so thats a 1mb file downloaded in 25 to 30secs. intresting to know that contract is double the speed. is that same with all networks or is it just another totaly unfair restriction

Hey dude, ring up o2 customer service and follow the guidance to the 'im thinking of leaving o2' part.
You'll be put straight through to retentions where you'll easily be able to strike up a deal.
I just sorted myself with a free c905, 600 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited o2 to o2 mins, unlimited internet
all for £30 a month. =)
You should easily be able to get ur contract down to £25, but you'll almost deffinatly have to commit to an 18 month contract...which tbh, isnt so bad these days...with a new phone too!!

Wiki mbps or something, 3.6mbps does NOT mean you can download 3.6MB (two different things) in a second.
And will you please stop with the whole "oh woe is me, pay as you go gets a bad deal, wa wa wa", so what if you do? Just get on with using it rather than complaining about it all the damm time.

I kept on about it. Mostly in retaliation to u ignorantly and stubbonly refusing to admit to o2 payngo,s failings. Notably the 10min download thing. If u held your hands up once in a while and said yes sorry we do have these restrictions people would appreciate it more instead of arogantly and stubbonly dismiss it as rubbish. U dont knw how bloody iritating that is

Well I would do if there was a bleedin' genuine problem with it, how come out of 22 million people you're the only one with the apparently 10-minute issue, funny that isn't it?

Greggy, I imagine Daedalus wants to keep his job and its not his fault if he doesn't want to comment on work stuff. I understand hes the face of o2 here at Esato and i imagine he gets a little miffed at us o2 customers moaning about policies he has no control over.
BTW Mbps is Megabits Per Second!

are we back to the so called 10 min imaginary cut off time when gregg used to download? I thought this argument had ended before? lol.
Lets just get back on topic people, its not fair on him, as he just wants to get a better deal at the end of the day.
so superleeds27 what did O2 say? did you call them?

Basically just do what my mum does everytime. Threaten to leave and say you can get a better deal somewhere else.
When it came for my upgrade with vodafone I just phoned up and asked for my PAC code and said I could get a better deal somewhere else. They then put me through to someone else who said 'What phone was it you wanted?' and I got a K850 free on a £20 a month contract when it had just come out |
