may be sator means the HPM-82 didn't suitable for his ears... it's happen to me too, when using a medium earbuds with HPM82 it's not block outside sound so good. different with a HPM-77, when using this HPM with medium ears bud too, it can block outside sound better than HPM82, and it's sound much better than hpm82.

HPM 77 and HPM 70 are quite different.. the buds are completely different shape.

The HPM-70 and HPM-82 ear buds are identical in all respects.

Not at all. Walkman is just a marketing gimmick. It always has been. Do you think the early "walkman" cassette players from other brands weren't as good as a Sony branded "Walkman"? Of course not. Pioneer, Phillips, Teac and others also had good quality units. It's just that Sony started the ball rolling so their branding became the generic term for portable cassette players. It didn't mean they were better.

Same in the SE line up. Walkman is just a marketing tool, but they haven't actually given non walkman phones any advantage other than HPM-70 and HPM-82 style headsets and pretty branding (and in some models there is better ergonomics in the music player). But actual sound quality is fairly standard across all their range.

True in a way. I always said Sony have been overpriced. You could always get another brand ( Goodmans etc) with double the feautres for half the price, but build quality is a different story....

Yes, they just don't fit my ears well. Tried all the gromet sizes, but they only sound OK if I keep them pushed into my ears. The HPM-64 buds sound a lot better, even without the blocking function. One day I might buy another set of inears, but then I want to be sure I can stick them in my ears in a comfortable manner. Must say I've never tried the HPM-70-likes, so maybe they would fit better. I guess I need a different shape of bud.

if u're have tried HPM 82, it's same with HPM-70, the different just "remote" about the sound they're same.

Yeah, max is right about the earbuds. HPM-82 and 70 are the same. So HPM-77 or 88 probably fit better. But for now I'm not gonna spend on a new headset, as I'm still satisfied with what I have. (Just need better sounddrivers for my C702)
