google maps itself is free. (you only pay for the kilobytes you use and thats nearly nothing).

GPS cost money to use the app itself. (wayfinder, etc, comes as an extra subscription cost)

@marty: so true

@nicky (could be plankgatan): obviously you haven't used Trekbuddy on C702. Google Maps is of course free in itself, but it uses GPRS data transfer, so when you are in an area with bad satellite signal reception it will set you back for more than 50kB. And that's a lot especially when you only wanna see where you are on the map. <-- This happened to me every time I use Google Maps, actually.

@Klo: I think you should get both phones and try them out for the trial period, if there's such an option provided by your telco. Cheers!

being in that same position barely a week ago...here are my thoughts.

camera-wise, i believe that until someone comes up with an updated cam driver for the C902, the modded C702 is better (there are several threads on that already). the C702 also has a brighter torch! i'm a fan of handphone torchlights haha...in the C902, u'll have to turn on video in night mode to activate the torch or use the modded pack to add that function in ur organizer.

in terms of durability, the C702 is also better because of it's dust/water proof feature. plus the C702 has got a built in GPS chip, although C902 comes with non-GPSable Google Maps.

i geared towards the C702 until the final moment when i tried the phones. as i'm a heavy texter, the buttons of the C702 didn't feel as comfortable as the C902. so i had to re-evaluate my priorities. and the final verdict on my side was that i got myself a titanium C902 instead.

it'll be great to get a feel of both phones in ur hands before deciding good luck!

Nearlly all the gps apps for the C702 are free to use, googlemaps, cpw navigator etc, it's only data your charged for by the network it doesn't use any data to geotag photos, but if you have a good data plan it's no problem i'm with 3 UK & pay £5 a month for unlimted data i think 3gig is the fair usage though.
Each camera has it's disadvantages,
The C902's is it's heavy noise reduction in anything other than daylight the noise reduction will just destroy the photo
The C702's is it's smaller aperature meaning longer exposure times, but smaller aperatures are a advantage when shooting landscape photos.

Okay, so let's end the camera debate for now. About the software for both phones, are hanging and reset problems common under normal and correct usage?(ie not openning 101 apps at once, mashing buttons and stuff) From what I ahve seen in video reviews and comments, the firmware is getting more and more stable with each release which is quite assuring from SE. Are there any bugs that anyone might want to highlight or I might bump into as usage hours accumulate?

Thanks for the great support here! First thread from me and I did not expect such fast and good response! Great forum and thanks again!

(BTW, I can't really try out the phones as most of the retail shops and telcos in my area only have dummy phones which don't really feel like the actual phone.)

The C702 doesn't reset/crash or anything, but multi tasking will slow it down which is odd because i never had this with my old k800, The C702's latest firmware is R3DA029, i updated my C702 to this firmware only to find it quite laggy more laggy then the previous, so i flashed my main firmware with R3CA038 which works perfectly like R3DA029 but not as laggy, i belive the new R3DA031 or R3DA032 firmware should be out on seus soon.

GPS in C702 can be free as hell. One who say it can't be, obviously hasn't tried it yet!

@Amras: That's why we think he is plankie! Lol.

@Klo, number1: Depending on your region the R3DA029 seems to contain more or less bugs than the R3CA. Because with R3DA029 APAC-ANZ I feel that the phone has actually gotten faster.

I would go for C702. I have played with both in stores but prefer the C702 in EVERY respect. Never liked the C902 much. Oh and image stablizers in mobile cameras are nothing but a gimmik which does not work.

If we take a look at the design alone, IMO C902 is further better. I still prefer in choosing K810 over C702, although it's A100
