that's very sad about honda, although it really is becoming more and more difficult to justify F1 involvement for a lot of the manufacturers, what with the extraordinary difficulties being faced in the global market right now. can't really blame them for putting their economic well-being ahead of F1. and i'm pretty certain that they're not the only manufacturer re-evaluating their F1 program at the moment.

Wow! What a major blow for F1 fans across the world! R.I.P. Honda

Apparently, the team is for sale for a quid. Yep, you read that right - single pound! Well, at least if this article is to be believed.

In fact, Honda's not the only automobile company who's withdrawing from motor sports. Audi's announced that they will not be participating in the AMLS (American Le Mans) series from next year. I had seen those Audis at Road Atlanta in the U.S. and they were just mindnumbingly quick. I'm praying that Ferrari and Porsche don't withdraw from the GT2 racing circuit. That would be the final nail in the coffin for motor sports in the United States.

Audi withdrawal from ALMS may not have to do nothing with current economic climate, they come in and go out at times.
In f1 Honda,Renault all have the same reputation.

but im inclined to think many years of lack of success even after pumping money has got a lot to do with hondas departure (and no title sponsor for many years if im not wrong),which might have been accelerated by economic situation.

Right on both counts. Honda were most successful in F1 as an Engine supplier and are still successful in the US supplying engines in the Indy Racing League.

Oh damn.
With Honda pulling out, it probably means we won't see Danica Patrick in F1 for at least a couple more seasons!

Holy moly, this is damn interesting. Looks like F1 will be gone down the pan if they lose more drivers/companies.

Thanks for the info guys so far!
