yup I forgotten APPLE..
today Steve Jobs or now he is giving a webcast
as far as shipment...3G iPHONE sold 6.5million within one quarter.
2G iPhone total shipment is 6.1million!!!
now iPHONE beat RIM in market share at USA if I am not mistaken when briefly looking into the report.
not surprise people who is losing market share lost to RIM and APPLE since both seem to be doing quite well.
2 days to go for Samsung to announce how their situation but today I read news about South Korea is going thru some small credit crisis...not as bad as 10yrs ago which Korea almost declared bankrupt but I doubt it will look good for Samsung. |

Yes, and I read it was 6.9 million not 6.5. Their sales figures should be followed carefully because they only have 1 model. If they expand the range, lookout everybody else. Having said that, I intend to return to SE as soon as their GUI reaches the standard of Apple's. Hopefully that will be with the G705a. I miss the modem feature badly enough to make the iPhone a temporary solution. I wonder how many others will return to SE with X1, G705 and C905 coming?

Previously I had have 3 concurrently used Sony Ericsson phones. Then I bought the iPhone 3G after careful consideration vs Samsung Omnia and I have to give away my P990 for that and just maintained my W910i and K550i. I plan to maintain both iPhone and Sony Ericsson phones. Although Samsung phones are so advanced and high tech the UI even in the Windows Mobile-powered Omnia and the chic F480 are really disappointing. I love SE's UI and of course Apple's. |

another company to watch out is HTC
I never see their report about shipment but looking at technical review sites....their product seem to be quite well received.
It just mean the current tough time is changing the mobile phone market.....it could be the end of us just knowing Nokia/ Samsung/ LG/ SE/ Motorola....we have to take note those unique maker like Apple/ RIM/ HTC which is going to erode market share from the traditional maker.
Now if Apple move into Japan/ CDMA....the impact will be even more...especially for those tht make CDMA phone (exclude SE which only make for Japan with small market share) |

CDMA is heading to extinction. Apple would only go there for the US market and the CDMA players in the US are eyeing up WiMax (which is struggling and propped up only by Google Android handsets). I'd expect to see a Apple WiMax iPhone before there'd ever be a iPhone CDMA/EVDO device.
SE and Nokia got out of CDMA for a reason - Qualcomm's attitude!
Nokia proved you don't need CDMA to win market share.

Hi all,
Sorry but these figures relate to shipped units not sold units and whilst SE shipped more units then LG they actually sold less.
I also wouldn't rule out the progress of Rim as the Bold with vastly improved specs and Multimedia is already expanding their sales away from just Business users. The soon to be released touchscreen Storm and the devices that follow this will help Rim seriously increase their market share IMO.

true that this is the shipped unit... but i do doubt LG really having a strong presence....whenever I travel troughout aisa....Asian majority holding SonyEricsson walkman not LG.
Yes LG can be seen too...but mostly the high end phone like Prada or Secret and tht is very rare.
we can wait when isuppli/ gartner etc research firm release data based on figure from all the retailer.
but at least the way I see it, if SE manage to hold on to their market share with deviation of % not more than 1%. Its already indicating people still choosing their product and what they need to do is to stop all the waste of $....see...today the articiles posted on NSE-SE.net....they are planning to merge RnD into one unit from three unit to reduce redundancy of resource.
There's also many other issue happening around but just stay focus on our wish....some good high end offer while seeing our favourite brand sail thru the current economy problem. |

@SE_dude
Go over to MR and there Q3 2008 thread and you will see this was brought up and explained that although SE shipped more units they sold less. Sorry but I'm not well enough to copy and paste all the links for you.

you guys still trust MR? I doubt all their claim
until i see serious survey company like Gartner summarize the shipment unit break down and sales thru unit break down
i don't trust MR after all those stupid remark about W595 plastic problem which everyone now claim it is ok in their review.
btw Samsung seem to be getting a good result.
shipment up 22percent to 51.8millon!!! so they are the winner...LG and Nokia is the loser...so if SE claim their market share being flat...makes me wonder how's Motorola going to be. |
