Well if you buy a fake product of ebay, but it was claimed to be genuine, you are entitled to a refund because it is false advertising. They are also, using the Sony Ericsson name and crystal green logo, which is a trademark of the Sony Ericsson Corporation, thus it is copyright infringement.

With fitting it, it looks kind of hard, with the lens cover - maybe I'm wrong, but think about it, lol.

Hey, I already know how to fit them, but not to pick out genuinness (is that a word lol).

Now, I was just flicking through the many thousands of Esato Forum pages (love the forum btw ) and came across this picture (look at the difference in the headphone bit you put in your ear) if left is fake and right is origional:

I was wandering if this applied to the phone housings (i can't spell fascias you see). Now if that is the case the £8.99 one is genuine and off the Casino Royale version? And also with regards to the copyright you mentioned I think if the logo (:se:) is angled in that way would that be against their copyright, or would they "Get away with it"?

Thanks
Luke

Yeah I've seen that picture around the forum somewhere. It's great comparison between fake and genione products. Love that pic. it comes very handy.

Yeah I agree full credit to the person (I can't remember who) that made the pic/topic.

I'M GOING TO DIE :@

Ok, so i bought the £8.99 version, not yet recieved, so went to myebay thing and the user is "No LONGER REGISTERED :@"

I'm gonna cry, quite suspicious though, plus he already has 14 feedback, so why be so horrible to me (was a big good to be true though)

Not all third party housings are fake. There are some third party housings that don't claim to be made by SE and are good quality. These are legitimate third party housings.

There are also some housings that are extremely poor quality. These also aren't "fake" unless they claim to be made by SE.

There are genuine (made by SE or SE contractors), non-genuine (made by third parties not contracted by SE), and fake (made by third parties but claimed to be genuine).

In the non-genuine category, there are good and bad quality versions. In the fake category, most are low quality.

So the real question is not whether it's fake or not but whether it's good quality. I've had good quality non-genuine housings that fit perfectly but are cheaper than genuine. The problem with buying online is it's impossible to tell if the case is 1. genuine (in which case it will be good quality) or 2. non-genuine but still good enough quality to use.

The problem with poor quality cases is the issue of fit, which can mean microphones, cameras, antennas and other components don't make contact with the pcb properly, slide mechanism's are stiff and difficult to use, and other really bad side effects that are just not worth the bother.

Well that's ok then if the product is posted. The only thing it is, you will have to wait long.
