None of the housings on ebay are genuine products, despite what the sellers claim. I've bought dozens and fitted them for friends, but they're all the same. Cheap, 3rd party copies of the originals.

Some are actually okay-ish, but most are really poor quality. My advice is don't bother. You will only be dissapointed in the long run. The plastics are poor, the paint will chip, and it will break much more easily. The badges will fall off, and it will creak and squeak like you won't believe!

EDIT

On a side note, I've bought off cnn.cn as well, and they are not much better for the price you pay!
As I said, some are passable, but even they will only last a couple of months before looking terrible. It's not worth it, unless your housing is really damaged and it is a last resort.

Hey thanks i appreciate your long answer lol.

I am quite shocked that the non genuine housings manage to get on ebay never mind stay there.
So these aren't worth bothering about?
Also is the silver off the Casino Royale version?
Can the k810 housing be put on the k800 and is it hard to do?

Thanks,
Luke

EDIT:

I'M IN UK AND DON'T WANT IMPORT PRICES FROM U.S.A.
THANKS LUKE

I have gone for the cheaper version, they're probably the same one anyway, the only thing what bothers me is if their not genuine why will let them get away with it. Anyway the reasons i went for the cheaper version are:

Credit Crunch
and if i am unsure if any of them are genuine then if it is not then why waste money there if it is not genuine?

Thanks to everyone,
Luke

Any comments or last minute suggestions though would be appreciated

Yeah i agree but there is nothing to prove they are not VERY similar?

Quick question to anyone reading:
Do you think that people should be able to put cheap mock-ups and bits of plastic on the internet, and if you were then would you try and stamp down on that kind of thing (a big job to do though but would you if you could)?

Reply please, i would like to see your views

You can't stop them making that stuff... There are too many people in this world to be stopped from doing what they want to... So if you stop one person, or company making fake copies of your product, another will start doing that again, so fighting this sort of "crime" (if I can call this a crime) is waste of time...

I suppose so, but there should be a law (maybe not that far) so if they wanted to make fake plastic rubbish they can but they have to tell you, not simple enough?

Well that's fair enough. So if you allow making plastic rubbish (as u call it) they can continue. If you don't you have the right to track them down... But it depends of the country the factory is going to be in... Some countries doesn't have such laws imo.

Well if you buy a fake product of ebay, but it was claimed to be genuine, you are entitled to a refund because it is false advertising. They are also, using the Sony Ericsson name and crystal green logo, which is a trademark of the Sony Ericsson Corporation, thus it is copyright infringement.

With fitting it, it looks kind of hard, with the lens cover - maybe I'm wrong, but think about it, lol.

It depends what housing it is... K800 housing isn't that hard to fit on. At least you don't have to remove all parts from the phone to change the whole housing as you have to do on K750 for e.g.
