SEUS is the best solution. but I think now it's available to flash P1 with XS++. Have seen a method around the blogs but not tested it myself... Don't have free time today...

So how about pointing to the link?

Anyway, due to the fact that SEUS is a much more 'user friendly' process, I think the OP should try it first. Particularly as XS++ also requires that the phone is able to start in flash mode. My advice would be to try and revive the phone in least complicated manner possible, and if it works, and you really want GW1 firmware, to have a go with XS++. |

Try SEUS first... Then if not working you can go for XS++, but you will need to download firmware file for it first...
P.S. The link is dead... Or at least, it doens't work for me...

To Atank:
The same exact thing happened to my P1i that I bought in Dubai. NO ONE COULD FIX IT! They didn't even replace the phone. I was only able to use it for 2 months. I bought the phone Sept. last year.
I recently found the phone again, an object of despair. I'm doing some research now to try and make it work.
I have long since bought a Motorola Razr and an HTC touch Diamond but I still get upset when I look at my P1i. I paid good money for it after all and I was an SE fan for so many years. |

Did anyone ever attempt to ?
Atank's problem is 99.9% a software issue which can be easily fixed via firmware flash.
So if yours is the same you should give it a go.
Welcome to Esato, by the way

Thanks for the welcome.
Two Service Centers had a look at it. One in Kuwait and one in Dubai. The warranty will run out at the end of this month. They said that the phone was mishandled (wtf! it doesn't even have one tiny scratch).
The welcome video comes on then the phone shuts itself off halfway thru the boot then comes on again with the welcome video then shuts off again - this goes on in a loop - it doesn't finish the boot. Other than that it's a slightly used phone - 2 months used.
I tried to get into the phones memory via USB hoping I could erase the firmware and replace it with a new one but the phone needs to be "on." Which is impossible because it doesn't finish the boot - it just goes around in a loop.
My theory is that there is a really bad production batch of P1is, SE simply doesn't care. I've written to them about it. I've got all records and details of the phone.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

What method of firmware flash is that
Do what I wrote in my first post and you're done.
As for the morons at the service centres in Kuwait & Dubai who were incapable of solving your problem - this only shows that they were genuine SE employees, nothing else
Just give it a try via SEUS.

Myth,
I downloaded the SEUS, I tried the Middle East Version first then the US. There is no difference between the two. I followed the instructions; released "c" when instructed - it said that I have the updated version of the firmware.
The phone is still doing the same thing as before - perpetual boot.
My hope is dashed.

Did you not have the 'continue anyway' option in SEUS? This will make it reflash your phone, and hopefully replace any corrupt files. |

No, I didn't get that option.
But now that you've mentioned it, I will try again just to make sure.

The continue anyway option is, for no obvious reason, not available for some regions.
If that is the case for you, I'd suggest to change your cda to GW1 first (for which the reflash option is available).
Do a search in this forum for XS++, which is the best tool for that.
Once you've changed, start over with the flashing process via SEUS.
Good luck !

Yup, I'm sure there is no "continue anyway" option. I took a screen shot of the last page.

Well, it seems that SEUS works in mysterious ways...It does look as if your only options are to use XS++ to switch to GW1, or to take it to be reflashed at one of SE's service centres as they have access to the EMMA server which is denied to us mere mortals. |
