If you
(1) like the iPod coverflow interface, (2) you will use the device only for making calls, (3) listening/watching media, (4) you like the sms system (5) and you are already an iTunes user, then get the iPhone.
If you do not fall in this category then there is no reason for you as stated by @ftyk in his post to buy the iPhone.
I have tried my friends iPhone's, the interface is pretty nice and I like the sms system, but I got bored pretty quick with the phone.
Edit: Having said this by no means am I saying "keep the P1" lol.

1. N95-8G
2. N82
3. HTC Diamond
4. N78
5. Samsung i550w
6. Samsung G810
(if you dont mind non-smart)
7. Viewty
8. Secret

Well if you ask me these are the phones to have (all  of course):
P1, W960, K810, G900, C702...
and iphone will NEVER be on the above list ahahah
