I know their different in terms of the elements, their two different substances, but I think people who don't know much about the RC cars call the nitro ones petrol because thats what it appears to be to average joe public. Could be wrong, but thats what I was always told.

Nitro is driven on ethanol, if I'm correct and petrol, well, on petrol... Ethanol as it is a small capacity engine, around 2.5 cc or something... and ptrol as it is 26 cc or something... someone correct me here:)
