Getting aound a filter in my office |

the problem with these filters is not the browser being used. The filters act at a higher level, or are built into the firewall, so using firefox won't help and if the filter blocks proxies then that won't help either unfortunately
as a side note, I've been using the GoToMyPC at work all day today that I mentioned last night and it works brilliantly. You can even drag and drop files from your pc at home to your local pc, and back again! and as its based around Citrix the speed is excellent. The only thing I am not impressed with is the £11.99 monthly charge after the trial expires

Have you tried any of the ones I mentioned, but with https in front. Some don't block secure sites.

I wouldn't try it mate. You don't want your self being sacked for breaking through it. They put it their for a reason (even it it is ridiculous), wouldn't you be breaking the rules if you did that?
Other than that, I think its sad that they can't trust grown people.
Its not as if your gonna put a load of porn on a company computer |

Talk to your boss or lump it. If it was meant to be broken around they would have given you the access. They don't NOT give you the access just so you can break through it and then get bolocked for going against their wishes.
Yes, you may like some free time to yourself, but as far at their concerned it's not their problem during their working hours.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for. |

@arien, https didn't work.
Tried that.
@kingbooker, I can't get sacked. I've got an immunity card Sometimes I need to access accounting sites and they're blocked. Calling up the IT department ends with "Sorry we can't do anything about that, it's automatic" wtf?
@deadulus, You don't know my office. The IT department decided to disabled USB access one day out of the blue. After telling them that WE are the most secure department in the whole company they said no. So we provided a letter from a Director and they still didn't want to move.
They only gave back access after the CEO almost had them fired. The IT department think they're Gods.
This is nothing to do with free time. I work from 7 am until 7pm (I finish at 2:30 but work over time). This has to do with legitimate websites being blocked and in my field of work, every single minute affects progress.
I work for a top 20 company.
@paul, my boss is the one who asked me to search around! He's the head of the department to and we're sick of the IT department.
I will try your portable firefox idea though.

I had a thought about firefox, I doubt it'll work because they also have exe limitations.
They didn't block exe's, rather they're ALL blocked, and have a list for accepted apps.
