Happens to me on my own home network now and again (vodafone uk). No idea why. Usually a network scan will fix it. Failing that, a reboot. May actually be a network problem rather than a phone problem as I have had it on other phones too...

Well, I must say I came here first looking for a solution after reading the whole threads from Indianocean and just went to get the solutions for ya'll

Most of people experiencing this problem some how went through Tanzania, i love the country but i had several questions to you lot with this problem,
1. who is your service provider
2. Is your phone on Contract
3. Did you bought the phone or it's free from ur service provider
4. if you bought your phone where, who, and how
5. after all this traveling where are you based is it in Tanzania or Europe or else where

The answer could be one but all those questions above could be possilbe routes for the problem

Your phone IMEI is bared, that's the only one reason your getting calls not allowed(GPRS), other which i see a very small chance of it being the reason is generic version of your phone the way it's setup could not be compatible with all networks especialy if your using various sim cards, so it's best to update to the world generic version, but most likely your phone has an international barr put on it

Guess everthing will be back to normal once you get the barr removed, that's if your phone is not stollen, so all the best

It may be your phone line1 and line2 settings or your number barred causing this problem. Have you tried using the phone with different SIM card?

My advice is to try a different sim

While rare,it's poss you have a faulty sim

Failing that, are there other networks on offer?

Also, try disabling 3g and see what happens. It sounds like a simple problem and therefore probably requires a simple solution.

Good luck

Well yeah, it happens sometimes to have faulty SIM. Our privoders for example, numbers that are not used for a longer time or they haven't updates their credit cash are barred for some time. Then the number is deleted and given to someone else. So something similar may happened to your number.

Hi all

I'm having the same problem as worldtraveler initially described. Calling and texting is not possible, internet however is. I am actually using my phone to write this message.
I am with T-mobile in the UK. I have a simonly contract with endless internet access. Everything worked fine for 4 months and now all of a sudden "no access to network" and the phone icon with a red bar through it.
I have tried different sim cards (t-mobile prepay one UK and one Dutch) but none seem to work.
i have put the internetsettings to CS-only but still have this problem. did a master reset but that didn't help either.

As internet is still working i don't think it is the sim-card. But maybe something to do with these gprs settings. I do not understand these settings fully.

I will go to the T-mobile shop tomorrow, if they are able to help i will let you guys know. if not does anybody here has any idea how to resolve this issue?

Hi I've posted in another forum a similar problem, I cannot make outgoing calls or sms messages nor can I receive them. The network strength bars read fine at the top. When i reset the phone (take out battery for 2 sec) it works fine and I get all my messages.

I'm not sure that our problems are the same. But I gave the GSM only, and the CS only ideas a shot. I will let the thread know if that fixes the issue

Cheers!!

Hi all

it appeared to be a problem with the T-mobile 3g network. I set the phone to GSM only and that did the trick. T-mobile has fixed their 3g network by now and the phone is back to normal.
so there was no problem with my p1i it was just a network issue.

cheers
