That was after i had only had him about 3 months at that point he has now been with me 30 months and is even more attached and protective of me.
Although he hasn't had to take a bite he has discouraged a small gang of youths a couple of times from doing anything silly quite quickly and effectively as you can imagine.
He is actually an Albino Dobermann so thankfully is very rare as they shouldn't be bred, but i have been guardian to Dobermanns for over 25 years now. Protection training of that kind should only be undergone in controlled and safe circumstances and by people that know what they are doing as the idea is not to have a vicious dog just one that knows how to defend you if necessary, and taking a bite is also the last resort not the first course of action.

teaching paw is quite easy to do with a clicker and dog chews. I've got my dog doing all sorts with this method.

Hi A L 3 X
Well according to the breed standard there are only four colours of Dobermann, Black and Tan, Brown and Tan, and the two other colors that suffer from a form of alopecia so there breeding is not encouraged which are the Blue which is more of a Silver grey Colour and then the Isabella which is an Apricot cream colour.
The Albino is not a recognised colour and is caused by a genetic mutation and Albino's can be vulnerable to all kinds of health problems just the same as in humans. Luckily Otis so far suffers from none of the possible health issues although i have had him tested for possible hearing and sight deficiencies.

I prefer having y two dogs as y best friends. Just treat them huanly and they will never on any given day dissapoint you. Ive had a best friend before and its true when they say once beaten twice shy. Your pet only becomes what you teach it to be.
Dogs are the best friends
