I recieved a T65 testphone a few months ago, and it's signal was so poor it only showed about 1 or 2 lines of signal even when I was located in the same building as a base station. The T39 I used as a primary at that time showed a full house at the same time.
The T65 was taken to the service desk and checed out, and there was a small flaw in the soldering of the antenna. That was fixed and I've been told that this particular phone outplays every Nokia where ever you take it!
Definately, bring the phone to the nearest service desk and have it checked out! T68 is too good phone to have something like this ruin the experience of having one! |

Well......
I tried to contact the service centre in St Albans, no reply. 192 says the place is not listed! I assume its gone.
Ah well, no reply from email to Ericsson so time to give them a call. Spoke to a quite abrupt gent who began his reply with, "Get another new one, it's the law!". I say, how about somebody from a service centre has a look and see if it is something simple that can be fixed easily. Eventually, after a long conversation he parts with the nearest service centre location....Stevo....he says its Intec of Barnet 0208 216 3896.
He recommended I contact Vodaphone straight away because " I clearly have a fault with the handset".
Ok, I did! She was very helpful...sounded lovely! The conversation politely and pleasantly steered me towards the retailer(who was online, emobileuk.com), with her stating she was only responsible for the SIM.
OK, to emobileuk.com.
They say, send us it back(we will refund your costs, mind you), we will have a look at it, if we think it is faulty we will send you another. Oh yeah, thinks I!
What do I do for a phone while they are deciding? Why can't a courier bring me a new one and swap out?
Their actual reply,
"As with any retailer we cannot gurantee that we can replace the phone under 14 days until we see it. For obvious reasons.
The technical swap deliveries we use to deliver the phone cost 3 times what we make on the phone and is only free because of the connection commision we get from the network to cover the cost. Also there is no way we can expect the courier to make a decision on the condition of the phone.
I am sure you will find virtually every online retailer employs a similar system in the same situation, however the vast majority will not pay for your return costs.
You may cancel your contract by returning the phone with written notice that you wish to do this within 14 days from date of connection.
You will be subject to a £30 charge for the delivery which as per our terms and conditions becomes chargable if no connection is complete."
Hmm, don't like their attitude!
The T68 is now boxed, accessories attached, cancellation notice enclosed and will be heading back to them tomorrow.
No more t68 for me and I will lose my number I have just ported and used for a while. Gutted, but I will not be effed around!
Guys, two things. Firstly, what should I get now?
I dont want a T68! What about the Siemens S45?
Secondly, hope you don't mind me popping back now and again to view the slaying of the occasional plonker like old Ben!
regards
Andy

Shit Andy, you're not having a lot of luck, hate when it all goes wrong like that, it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth doesn't it. I think the SL45's a good chioce, but I think they're getting hard to get now, and you can update the firm ware to support Java, have a look at sl45.com, it's another forum similar to this one, and good luck, to tell you the truth I'm a bit jellous of you getting an SL45, nice phone, see ya |
