maybe you are right about that.
The fastport charger pass through works fine with a standard headset, it's only the mmr60/70 that doesn't fit.

There are other original accessories than the MMR 60/70 that do not fit either, like, for example the speakers MPS-60 or MPS-70. For some reason, the contact seems to be deliberately designed in a way that it cannot be plugged in into the passthrough connector of the charger.

Just got an MMR-70 and it seems to work really well - although the RDS text seems to freeze every so often, but I think that's the phone going into power save as I haven't got a charger plugged in.
The idea I have is to use a spare dock and butcher this to fit it into my car dash so I can have the charger and MMR-70 plugged in permanently.
The other option is a bluetooth headset, but thats more money
