so.. how can one phone be capable of that^ and I can take any decent close up shots ever without horrible flash bleaching colours?

Out of interest can anyone take a decent picture of themselves with the k850? Ok so maybe the idea of taking pictures of yourself is lame etc but we do it.. Anything I take turns out super white, and my eyes and nose only BARELY noticeable.. what gives?

Can't seem to get any good pictures from my k850 as of yet.. I see others have really nice ones though in that thread. Why do mines suck?

To me it just seems like you don't know how to work the camera, focus and such. On the pictures it seems like you've made the camera focus on a dark area and then pressed the camera shutter in a lighter area, hence the whiteness.

hmm.. so how exactly should I be taking my pictures? step by step idiot guide would be good . I must admit I am not the best at taking pictures, but I didnt really think I would need to be. On any k800 and k810 I used the pictures looked fine. Is there more manual operation to the k850

any help appreciated

thanks

No wonder the k850i was last in the Gsmarena picture test. While computer nerds manage to take half decent pictures, the 'Johny us all' ends up like you . Sell that crap and buy yourself a decent camera phone like the n95 8gig. Yes you'll spend more but you'll also save more - nice unforgetable, sceens , without having to fidle and remember 10.000 settings

It's naff all to do with the user being at fault, There is a huge variation in quality of pics taken by various K850i models.

Looking at holcar's xenon flash pics makes me feel like my 2mp P990 is a real winner

The K850i is rubbish at taking pics wiht the flash!

I get exactly the same problem, other day we was taking a family picture and had to do it about 10 times to get a picture, everyong looked bright white and couldnt see ppls faces.

I really hate this phone, the K800 on the other hand was great point and shoot non of this fathing around with settings that dont appear to do anything!

njaaaa, if you get bad flash pictures, you have some kind of problem with your k850....usually k850 flash pics looks awesome..just look at the k850 thread, there is many many perfect flash pics.....i think the flash is one of the best features on k850....

i can take pictures from a longer distance with k850 then k810...it have a stronger flash or something...

it was very hard for my k810 to produce this sharpness from a distance of 2-3m, but like you see, k850 manage it perfect.

On most pictures I take the xenon flash ruins it I think. Im running R1DA038 firmware.

For example taking a self portrait using the xenon is impossible, way too much flash in the picture and it is just all white and no detail can be seen. Same with anything up close using the flash in moderate lighting.

Outside pictures in moderate/dim/night lighting seems to have the closest thing to the camera mega bright and then anything behind it in almost complete darkness?

So.. does anyone have any tips for the camera especially when using the flash? I'm careful not to put my fingers near the sensor thing.

What settings should I try for taking pictures of things fairly close using the flash? For example a self picture. I have tried twilight portrait and no difference really..

Can I use the LED light without the flash? Would be great if I could, but I don't know how? All my pictures look great in the preview before the shutter snaps and then the look rubbish afterwards.

Thanks

Heres an example...

Another.. one of the better ones. Although still too much white..

@ holcar try using night portrait mode press 6 repeatedly until you reach to Night portrait.

If your using this mode minimize handshake. This will give you great results. even at night with xenon flash. Shutter speed is set to 1/4s Hope this helps this setting gathers more light delaying the shutter by a few mili seconds compared to the normal setting

@Planky
Can you take the same angled shot of your thumb like this,

and post it here? I think holcar was concerned with shots closer than 2-3 meters' range

let me give you a advice...its much easier to get good colors if you have more darker colors on your object....(hands, skin, etc, reflect to much).

even a Camera like Canon SD400 produce bleached colors when its to close

see here..(the flowers)

here is some close up from my k850...
flash, macro:

macro..yeh man

I can take good pictures with flash..but NOT when i take macro shots of anything WHITE,
The white totally reflects the light and causes 500% over-brightness.
E.g, i cannot make a document picture while using the flash...

edit:not even with ISO100
