K850 - Xenon flash ruining my pictures? - Image attatched. |

On most pictures I take the xenon flash ruins it I think. Im running R1DA038 firmware.
For example taking a self portrait using the xenon is impossible, way too much flash in the picture and it is just all white and no detail can be seen. Same with anything up close using the flash in moderate lighting.
Outside pictures in moderate/dim/night lighting seems to have the closest thing to the camera mega bright and then anything behind it in almost complete darkness?
So.. does anyone have any tips for the camera especially when using the flash? I'm careful not to put my fingers near the sensor thing.
What settings should I try for taking pictures of things fairly close using the flash? For example a self picture. I have tried twilight portrait and no difference really..
Can I use the LED light without the flash? Would be great if I could, but I don't know how? All my pictures look great in the preview before the shutter snaps and then the look rubbish afterwards.

if your using auto setting, choose 100 ISO and bring down the brightness with your Dpad. post your results |

ISO 100, and -.7 brightness. Doesn't help? It should though?
Forgot the upload the one of my arm, but it turned out almost exactly the same as before.

your right, objects that are close like that to the camera show a little too bright. this is hopefully fixed in the 038 firmware which im dying to upgrade to |

if you read it the orignal poster said he is using 38 SW. so not much hope it in it fixing the problem

try reducing the iso more and try macro focus to see if when focus is on the near object it will be better.

Macro focus helps a bit, but only really if I move the camera a lot closer. At the same distance as the previous pictures it doesn't make anything better.
So is my phone potentially faulty? The focus not working correctly or something? Can someone post or link me to an example where some pictures have been taken fairly close with the xenon flash and the settings are listed?
Any more suggestions either?

.even a ordinary digi cam (mostly) produce such bleached colors at that distance, on example your hand, (because the hand is pale, etc)....
use iso.100 and get little longer distance and everything will be fine.

@hol - Try taking shots with minimal-brightness in the room or perhaps NONE at all  When I am using the xenon flash (optional accessory) with my K750i, I am taking shots of my object (as much as possible) in complete darkness . . . or when there's light, I make sure that it's very minimal . . . say PIN-lights (ceiling) . . .
Take a LOOK at this angel-shot :
This was taken in the living room with complete darkness . . . the built-in light in the K750i guided me though where to focus at the object.

I think SE had deliberately reprogrammed the Flash power to be at its max OR either tuned its light senor's sensitivity level behind due to many users complaining taking dark low light photos... Even though their fingers obstructed it...
This light sensor position IS really causing major problems to many users...
A miscalculation in design I would say. |
