Correct me if I'm interpreting wrongly; so what you're saying is that SE should have ditched the built in DSP, bypassed it and implemented their own DSP chip like Nokia did, correct? 
What's that "  " smiley supposed to mean eh? 
Once you get used to expensive DACs and Amps, trust me, you'll agree that such a canal phone would be under utilized with just a W960. The Shure SE530 deserves a better companion. The $$$ for the canal phones is better spent elsewhere if its not gonna be used to its full potential. 
Just IMHO, YMMV.
