I did it with an N80 a couple of weeks ago...very straightforward...but I was very nervous throughout
EDIT: And no, branding/debranding a phone doesn't change its lock status (from what I know)

Any idea what went wrong Dicky, so I know to avoid that mistake myself?
Though it does sound fairly simple, change the prodict ID to the generic Euro 1 code, then simply run the Nokia update service (after ensuring all the right drivers are installed).

only thing i would advise is check and then double check the product code to make sure you entered it right and it succesfully wrote it...then chnage back to your original one afterwards

Sammy i did this yesterday with my new N95 no problems at all.
Just makesure you have PC suite installed and running and make sure the product code is correct.
I used this guide :

you didn't touch the cable did you whilst it was updating the handset?
it does tell you to keep it flat and to not touch it!!!!
Those N80's are a piece of cake to do,
i'd be confident to do more anyway
my mates taking my N80 appart tonight to re-house it into a Black pearl im abit nervous but the guide makes it look easy
fingers crossed he doesn't wreck it

no idea what went wrong, i changed the product code to a generic one using nemisis, ran the Nokia update service, left it to do its thing, and when it said " update sucessful " on the PC screen, i turned my phone back on and it said " phone startup failed, please contact your operator "

Ah, so when you debrand the N95 your use Nemesis the change the product code, flash/debrand the phone, then you need to use Nemesis again to put it back to the original product code in order for it to work?

no, you set the original product code back after debranding just in case something goes wrong with your phone (unrelated to debranding) that causes you to send the phone back for some other support issue

after the phones restarted after using NSU you then turn it off and chnage it.....because of what masseur said and also on other forums i've read it has caused the same problem as Dicky said

Sounds like it causes instabliity keeping the generic code then, I'll do that too then after debranding (if I have the balls to do it on a £200 phone! )
Though obviously I'd have to change it back to generic again if I want to do another firmware update in the future without it sticking all the voda crap back on!
