The OP already owns P990i and N73, both being smartphones and thus capable of doing a lot more, than calling, texting and browsing, for which he uses them.
So the question is not, what he needs (the phones he already owns, can do more, than he needs), but what he wants, as he probably just wants a new gadget to play with (nothing wrong with that ).
Well yeah i certainly do want a new gadget to play with but not now maybe in 2-3 months time and I will not restrict my choice only to the P1i but I will also have a look at other phones in the market such as the o2 atom life,N95 and other one's that would be released at that time.Any idea if windows mobile 5.0 or 6.0 supports flash player? |

Decide whether you want touch screen or not, thus Nokia or SE.
The main difference between the P990 and the P1 is the form factor. If a decent qwerty keyboard and the flip are important then go for the P990 otherwise get the P1 as it has more memory.
Simple really...
Touch screen is not really a priority for me and anyways I am a rough user in handling phones whereas in touch screen u have to be really careful that the phone doesnt fall down badly or else the screen is damaged and it's spare parts are really expensive in replacing them.I've faced similar issues when using a p910i.Well supposing I opt for the N95 since it really combines all features in 1 phone, according to my usage mentioned above in this post of making call's,sms,music,wi-fi,games,gprs...how many days or time would the N95 battery last me?Ony my p990 currently it lasts hardly for a day or sometimes less than that say around 9-10 hrs max. |

The N73 has a much better camera than the P1i. The phone itself has shabby build quality & no wifi though. |

P1 is basically an overhauled P990, but imo the P1 is a monkey load better than the P990, I mean u stack them up together and P990=old hippy VW van, P1=Murcielago. as far as the N73 goes, the thing has RAM issues, (so does the P990) runs out of memory quickly, camera is good, love the video quality aswell, but i reckon that the P1 wins over the n73, i just love the feel of it. If i were you, i'd go and have a feel/play with them in a store or sumthing, and I dont think u should go for the P990, because it honestly its not worth the truble. |

Both do, I think. Not sure how well it works, or if they've sorted out the problems with launching swf files locally yet, though. Btw, any s60 3rd edition phone supports flash lite 2 about now, I hear. |

I would suggest WAITING for the N95-8GB, it has 128mb ram (around 80mb at start up apparently), it has a 1200mah battery wich is better than P1, a bigger screen, 8GB mem, A-GPS, you wil hav to wait til around October

buy the P1i.
the battery better than P990 and it has a nice design and size and is at a resonable prize
otherwise there is n95 8GB, which is nice, but far more expensive |

I am planning to upgrade in the fall and really like the flip for the convenience of making single handed calls. How easy is that to accomplish with the P1?

If its only for the battery, you can use the BST-40 in the P990i, I do and its great!

Anyone considering the P1 should check that they can be comfortable with the keyboard.
The build quality of both P990 and the P1 is better than the Nokia models. As for the differences between P990 & P1, apart from the obvious RAM and camera, it's down to personal preferences regarding the flip and the keyboard layout. The P1 screen is also a little bit smaller that the P990 and they both have the same processor. With the current prices, the P990 is actually a very good buy.
The Nokia battery does not last as long as the SE models but then the N95 is better with video due to a dedicated full strength chip unlike the SE models which have the light version video processing chip.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |
